I just bought the Hitachi sp18va rotary polisher through Coastal tool. thought i'd just splurge and get a rotary for fun. (actually for fathers day :grinno: )



coastal tool's price - $99.00



I checked our local Hitachi distributor $349. + taxes (total $401.35)



(( yes, thats four hundy !! :think: )



so with the canadian dollar so high right now (almost par) and shipping was $8.50 --



totalled 107.50.



the only thing i lucked out on is I know family friends in Ohio, who commute to ontario for work every 2nd week,,,, so I got them to recieve it in Ohio, and they will bring it to :ca

I tried the Coastal tool option too. Import duties were going to be $642.37 USD and shipping to Canada was another three hundred.

I decided not by purchase the Hitachi. I bought the company instead.

I'm just pulling your leg. I made up all those figures because I could never get such a good deal as you did and I'm just envious as the dickens.

In all honesty, contratulations on the great deal.

Does your American friend ever drive to Victoria?

i think you could still get this one for well under $200.00 (Can) total (after duty and Ups brokerage fees). which is still half what you would pay here..



but i know the Porter Cable rotary at Canadian Tire is about $200 too :bigups

You should start some kind of US-ON delivery service and I'll be your first customer ;) , I would love to get the Hitachi but the shipping cost, duty, brokerage is a PIA
 
Hey...thanks for pointing this out..I'll order my Hitachi from Coastal Tools and pick it up at my cottage in the US.....cheapest I found it was 240$ @ Bosstools.com w/free shipping and 1 tax.
 
I got my Hitachi from Coastaltools with all the conversion rate and shipping for $150cad. tell them to ship USPS and not UPS which is always guranteed duty while through USPS is about 30% chance. The Hitachi sells for $425 +taxes in Montreal. The PC at Cdn Tire is your best buy for $199, the price dropped like $100 from last year.
