To Glaze or not to glaze...

EZ Boy

No Woolpad Butchers Here!
I imagine that most people:

Wash
Clay
Polish
De-swirl
glaze
wax protect
get paid

Yes/No?

Are people using glazes with any cut? If so, what's the workings behind another cut after swirl removal? What are the real performing glazes on the market? Easy to apply/remove?

Many detailer/body shop folk use and describe glazes in different ways. Many detailers use a glaze after cleaning and before sealing to add shine and hide imperfections as best they can. People with show cars rarely wax their cars but they do glaze them, with products like Omega Glaze, #7 or 3M's IHG.

Body shop folks use a glaze to remove final sanding marks and to give the paint a nice gloss that will continue to allow the paint to cure.

I have yet to come across a glaze that is easy to use and for this reason I hardly ever use them. The more popular glazes are Meguiars #7 and 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze. IMHO I would use Meguiars #3 or #5......or Menzerna's Sealer Glaze before the #7 or the 3M.

:yeah
I use Meguiars #3 Machine Glaze applied with a rotary.
the directions say it can also be applied with a PC.
It wipes off pretty easy and leaves a great wet shine.
If you don't want to use a glaze, then I recomend using Poorboy's SSR1 with the PC set at 6, as a final step before waxing or sealing. It leaves almost as wet of a shine as the glaze. It is more reflective and clearer though.
The best part is it wipes off super easy.

Thanks Anthony, very useful info. I'll try to get my hands on some #3 and #7 as you and Kim have suggested.
