Titan Boy

I already introduced myself in the appropriate forum.
Here is what I have brand new 2004 Nissan Titan crew cab. Color is "Smoke"

I picked it up this afternoon. They actually did wax it and it is looking decent and smooth.
Okay, so I have been searching the forums for the past two weeks and have gone through the stickies and so forth, I have learned alot.

But I still have several questions and need hints on things. I will ist them and anyone with any help would be swell. Yes I typed swell.

1) Which was is preferred. NXT or meguires gold class?

2) Wax. NXT or Mothers?

Also, I live in Iowa and our winters can be either mild or nasty. Is there any special precautions to protect it. This is pretty penny truck and I would hate to waste it in the first winter.

I am thinking of claying it, NXT, and then a simple coat or two of carnuba?

There was more but I can't remember anymore at the moment.

Another question

I live in a duplex where I dont have a garage and there is little shade. Plus I have a tree that leaks sap like no other.
So I see that many of you stay away from car washes like a plague. Why?
I have a couple to choose from. Any one heard of Super Wash? I used to work there when I was in high school. Good place. How ever they have this pre-soak call super soap. Its super all right, takes most wax off right away. But I do feel that it gets the car clean.
Is there any wax that holds up to that or is there any opinions on the type of either selve-serve or auto car wash you would suggest?
Thanks

Personally, I avoid all commercial car washes because (with a few exceptions) the employees could care less about your car or proper car washing techniques... i.e. dropped wash mitts that are immediately used to wash a car with dirt & gunk from the ground still on them. Three words: HARD PLASTIC BRUSHES! Like you mentioned, soap so strong it strips off all the protection in minutes and dries out rubber & plastic trim, then there are the questionable drying towels that they use to both wipe off missed dirt near the bottoms of the car and then used right away to dry the rest of the car...

The car washes I am talking about are no touch drive through. There is a laser wash pretty close to me that seemed to do a decent job on my jeep grand cherokee.. it is just easier to sometimes drive through real quick. I dont use ones that dry my vehicle or use mits.

The touchless washes have to make up for the lack of friction (wash mitts etc) by using extra strong soap solutions, they may not scratch, but your wax is soon history.

When I can't do a "real" wash at home, I will go to a self serve wash and use the high pressure rinse to at least get the 'big stuff' off the car. also use that method in the winter to rinse as much of the salt off as possible (although I WILL use their high pressure soap when doing the undercarriage).

not much of an expert here but I've had good experiences with claying my Altima, applying NXT, and then applying a simple coat or two of carnauba wax (P21S). BTW - congrats on getting the Titan! :)

Thanks

That was exaclty what I was hoping to hear. I think since they already half a** waxed it. I am going to possibly clay it then NXT and then a coat or two of carnuba.
