Tired of Tesla's yet? Model S with Optimum Coating

2014 Tesla Model S, owner recently acquired this car and wanted it properly protected with Optimum Coating. We also did their Lincoln MXK...but forgot to get any pictures. Long day, wanted to beat rush hour and also didn't want to inconvenience the owners after it was already garaged. Anyway, the Telsa had some random areas of buffer swirls and spider swirls. Not nearly as bad as some I've seen posted here but so far, it was the worst prepped one I've done. Whoever did this car did the owner no favors. The Lincoln, on the other hand, was in really good shape.

Compounded with Meguiars M100

After polishing with Optimum Opti-Coat Primer (cutting power is similar to Optimum Hyper Polish)

ONR wash, Opti-Raser mild to clay

Meguiars M100 using a 6 1/2" Optimum orange foam cutting pad and my Rupes 21 DA polisher

Optimum Opti-Coat primer using a 5" orange foam waffle pad I got from Optimum to test and my Rupes

ONR wash

Optimum Coating applied to paint and wheels

Optimum Opti-Glass applied to the windshield

Armor All on tires/wheel wells

The Optimum Primer seems to have enough cut to remove minor to moderate defects depending on pad and machine choice and a little goes a long way. One the pad is primed, you need very little per section. The finish is pretty close to 3D HD Polish, I'll have to try it on some soft BMW/Audi jet black clear coat to see if it finishes down as well but so far it seems very promising.

Got some outside and garage shots, as usual, my camera has trouble with red, color is a bit off but you can see how nice the depth is. In fact, the owner commented on how before the paint just looked flat and the improvement after polishing gave the paint much more depth.

You can see the Lincoln next to the Tesla in this picture, color is sort of a root beer metallic, looks really good! I'll have to contact the owner and see if its possible for him to take a picture or two and send them along.

Thanks y'all! :)

Really like the Tesla's too, styling, fit, finish, tons of electronic gadgets, fast, low center of gravity, nice interior, etc.

Man I wish I could get these "Light" swirled Tesla's! Everyone I get is hammered! And thin too! I thought I like the blue, red doesn't look so bad either. I see the new rims also, BMW style, nice! Great work guys!

Thanks Tim! Based on what I've seen others post, the prep on Teslas is very hit and miss. My job is a lot easier when people contact me when they get their build date so I can then make sure they don't allow any prep done to the car upon delivery. Those rims are for the 19" tires. The owner mentioned with how quiet the car is, he felt a taller tire would have less road noise.
