Tire Shine

I was wandering what is a good tire shine that lasts more than the first time it gets wet and doesnt sling.

I have been using Megs High Endurance but it seems to attract alot of dust and turns brown and is really shiney.

I am looking for something that makes them look just a little better than "NEW".

Was thinking Zaino's Z-16?

Lots of theads on tire products. A search will yield many results. I've never used Z16, but I hear its very good as its water based and lasts a good time.

My tires like to shine with 303 Aerospace Protectant.:up

This is an all in one type product, so you can use it on more than just your tires.:idea

Z16 is probably the most durable tire dressing I've used but I don't think its quite as durable as stuff like Endurance or Mothers Duration. Z16 is glossier than 303 and on a par with Vinylex or Eagle One Concours.

NXT Tech Protectant should be named NXT Tire Glow. I wouldn't use it on anything but tires but it's my favorite thing thus far and easily the most durable. I'm still on the first bottle (when used with EO tire swipes).

I second that emotion! Easy to spread and has a nice wetness to it. I will pick up more when I get some NXT wash.

Whatever you use, I've found that buffing the tires after letting the product sit is really a good way to keep them clean longer. This way the excess product is removed so it won't attract dust/dirt. In the case of 303 (and probably others), it is actually recommended as this buffing "sets" the product, increasing the durability (303 website has more info on their product and buffing).

I've used Endurance, 303, Vinylex, #40, NXT Protectant, and others, and always buff them after the product set for some time. It also gets rid of the "plasticky" shine with high gloss products, helping to give a satin, black look. Actually, I switch between the above products about every wash just for the feeling of doing something different. Each one has it's own subtle difference in appearance.

Endurance and NXT are both too shiny for my tastes without buffing. But after buffing, they look really good, even if a little shinier than 303, #40, and vinylex.

The NXT has actually impressed me with its appearance. It looks oily when applied, but after buffing it has a dry, satin, BLACK appearance. It's durability is better than the others (which have worn off after several rains), with the exception of Endurance. But I don't even know the limits of those two as they've never worn off before I'm doing them again.

Just my experiences.

Well Brett I can get Endurance locally and its cheaper than the z-16. Maybe I will stick to that when my z-16 is all.

Well, there is one big difference between the two. One is water based and Endurance is petroleum based. Water is much safer and isn't bad for tires.

I'm using Pro's Blue Ice Tire & Trim dressing. It looks nice and wet when you apply it, which then turns into a nice clean look after a day or so. I've never had to wipe it down to prevent sling, but it will sling if you put too much or get the stuff stuck in the treads of the tire. It seems to last about 3 weeks.

That might make sense if you were planning on getting 5-6 years out of your tires. I never get more than two so I use the product that I think looks the best. Turns out it's Endurance.

Anyone here actually have a tire go bad because of the tire shine?

In the old days, I used armor all on the tires of my mother's Mercury Monarch. The tires were Rikens and they started to develop cracks in the sidewalls after 3 years on the car. We could actually see the steel belts. Could just be the tire's construction, but I stopped using armor all on the tires after that experience.

It was the Riken tires. While Armor All wasn't good for tires back in those days(don't know what it's like now), the Riken tires had that problem. Ask me, I had some.

Am I the only one here that likes shiny tires? I use Endurance and love the look but I kinda feel ashamed by admitting it. :o I think everybody should have a little bling bling in thier life.

I used Meg's Hot Shine Aerosol on my tires about 2 weeks ago. Still looks great. Looks like I painted them with a high gloss black paint.

Poorboy's Bright & Bold is nice, but not shiny. Very black, looks great, but a different look.

Both are great.

No, Im with you on the shiney tires:cool:

I've got some TW tire wax that leaves a nice matt finish. When its gone I'll switch to something that gives my tires some shine. It seems like Z16 or NTX protectant would be the way to go.

I've found that using a good tire cleaner ahead of time can make a big difference. I scrub my tires and get them nice and black. And, then I apply NXT, and buff it (as recommended above). The tires seem to stay black for a month or so at a time, and do a nice job or resisting dirt.
