Tire Foams - good idea?

I like the simplicity of tire foams. A friend from another detailing board taught me a tip on sprucing up plastic grills using tire foam - its a serious time-saver. And now my n00bish question: is there any drawback to these products? :nixweiss In particular, anyone have any experience with the 1Z Tire Foam? Just curious if these products are worthwhile, or if instead, like many things, the shortcut/time-saving method doesn't always get you to the same place.

I, personally, love tire foams but only on tires and engines. My foam of choice is good old AA Tire Foam. They make a higher grade one that comes in a gold colored can that's even better than the regular but I go through so many, I just grab the originals. The bottom line on this one is if it works for you, it's the right way to do it.

Just remember if you use it on plastic grills and such, to buff off the residue after it dries to minimize the greasy runs after a rain.

I buy 3-packs of whatever is cheap at Sam's Club for my wheel wells.

A quick spray inside my wheels wells, followed up with an old rag to smooth it out. :up

I also use the tire foam on my wheel wells, normally it's the TW tire foam, good price, easy to use and works well.

I'm with JDookie, I love the ArmorAll, I use the Detailer's Choice (the one with the gold cap). I scrub the tires with a stiff brush with either the wheel cleaner runoff or just car wash, to make sure they are clean, first. I like the AA foam because it's quick and easy, gives a nice shiny gloss, is safe for paint, mixes with any water left on the tire, and lasts just about 'til it's time to wash the car again, which is long enough for me.

I agree with JD also. I use it for a quick fix on my tires if time is a problem, but it also works awsome in egine pays after they are steamcleaned.

I quit using foams. There was a time when I wanted to buy them by the case . He he, of course now I came across some sources for them in passing while reading Professional Car Wash and Detailing magazine. A while ago already I even e mailed Armor All stating my interest in buying by the case and they refused to reply.
