Tire Dressing

I was wondering if there were any new tire gels out there that lasted a long time?  I used the Tuf Shine tire sealent on my tires and it lasts a long time but I don't like the fake shine look it puts on my tires, I love that original Armour All shine that you see at all the new tire stores.

I have been using Optima Tire Gel, I love the gloss but it last for only a few washes.

Recently saw the commercial for the armour all tire detailer and it said it would last for over a hundred washes?  Not sure what it looks like on the tire but I am impressed with that length of time.

I am looking for suggestions on the longest lasting tire dressing out there that still looks natural.

Thanks so much for any feedback :D

lazzman- I'm a little surprised that you don't find the AA to be a bit too shiny.  I'm still using up my old (lemon-scented) Z16, and IMO it's more matte than the AA.

I hear you on wanting something that lasts a while...but "a few washes" might be about as good as it gets with products that aren't too shiny.

The new AA product you refer to is named Outlast Tire Glaze.  Haven't used it and don't know anyone who has but I have been hoping someone here will post a review sometime soon.  I currently use AA Extreme Shine Tire Gel, which is no worse than most of the others out there, maybe a little better than some.  Most either sling or last until it gets cloudy.

This has been my experience as well, Optima was supposed to be the best according to more than a few forums I visited, but it lasted until the first rain storm and the deep, black shiney was gone.

I do find the AA a bit to shiney and greasy, however if you wipe off the excess it looks good.  I am looking for dark black, satin shine that lasts and looks like a new tire.

I am going to try the chemical guys tire dressing and see what happens-  though I would still be open to any suggestions.  I also just saw the commercial for the new Meguires black plastic and rubber dressing, that they claimed would last months?

I am trying out Black Pearl. Months later the tires look freshly dressed. How ever, I don't go for a super shiney finish so your results with the product may vary.

When I run out of the Z16 (and my *very* old Griot's stuff...just gotta use that up) I plan to try the DuraGloss Tire and Rubber Mat Dressing.

Just tried the DuraGloss Tire and Rubber Mat Dressing today for the first time.   Found it a very thin product even after shaking well--went on best with a small sponge--no need to wipe off, just let it dry--a little goes a long way--not greasey at all.   Love the look--just a very light sheen like  black licorice to use a description mentioned by another member for Mothers FX--which was also a great look, but didn't last long.

Can't comment on durability yet.

i like using water based dressings for the tire and i re-apply after every wash anyways. HD Dress works great, spreads easy, and can give you a desired look depending on how much/ittle you apply...

My ears are burning. I actually stopped using FX, I'm sold on PERL now. Amazing stuff.

Never tried it but what's so great about PERL (shine/gloss, low cost, longevity, deep black color etc...)?

Gloss is great but the fact that it is an adjustable concentrated formula is what sells me. One bottle lasts forever.

I like the gloss factor, it gives me that black licorice look I love. It wears off gradually not instantly gone after a rain storm and it does not brown the tires at all. Durability is unsurpassed for water based. Price is great too.

Thanks guys.

Durability. Can you get 3-4 weeks out of it?

Only if you park it in a garage and don't drive it. I measure durability of water based tire products in short drives they can sustain. Perl can take about 5-6 trips in the rain before it is mostly gone. For comparison FX does about 3-4 and regular AA one trip.
