tire dressing with white letters: how to?

How do you use black tire dressing with tires that have raised white lettering? I'm afraid to touch the white with the black, so to speak, for fear of permanently staining the white letters. Are there any techniques that could help? Thanks very much.

Dress the whole tire all at one time. Then, spray a little dressing on a cotton towel/rag and gently wipe the dirt off/away from the white letters. The dressing will act as a cleaner. As a matter of fact, white walls sometimes don't need to be cleaned prior to dressing, just spray and wipe = bright white.

the tire dressing is black?

I found that PB BNB, which has some cleaning properties, works well and doesn't blacken the white letters.

You should clean the rubber with a strong citrus solution and a dense long bristle tire brush. Rinse thoroughly. You can apply your dressing with a paint brush to get in all the O's and A's and follow with a good wipe down. This should remove any transfer to the white letters. Don't forget to wax your rims!
