Tire Dressing comparison

Pretty simple, just wanted to compare some tire dressings side by side.

I cleaned the tire with some Westley's Bleche-Wite, and a stiff bristled brush. Rinsed with a hose to get them clean.

From there I used separate brand new tire swipes from eagle one, and buffed them each with separate brand new towels.

I used the following

Meguiars Endurance

TW Tire Gel (this was actually my first time using it, couldn't find any until yesterday)

Aerospace 303

and Eagle One Protectant lotion (Their tire dressing looked to shinny for my taste, where the interior dressing has a mild shine)

The picture is a little dark to see the full differences (I need a new camera, mines two years old). Here are my observations

Meguiars Endurance had, by far, the most shine.

Aerospace 303 had the least shine.

Eagle One and TW were about the same, a good middle between Endurance and Aerospace.

TW looked much darker than eagle one and Aerospace. It wasn’t a wet shine, just more black looking. This was at all angles, so I don't think it was the difference in lighting.

Very pleased with TW, I might have to try and find more. I grabbed the last two bottles at a rite-aid.

Good review StyleTEG, thanks. :up

Is that the (discontinued) Finish 2001 Tire Gel or this animal I've seen up here called Emerald Series Tire Gel? Also, this was just the regular pain-Jane Endurance right?

In case anyone's wondering, the Eagle One Protectant is their replacement product (sorta) for their discontinued Satin Finish Concours Tire Shine which SRL loves so much. ;)

Isn't Wesley's Tire Bleach a big :nono

It is a pretty harsh cleaner. I use a dilluted 50/50 (water) once in a great while to strip all of the previous dressing. Continued use might cause fading, and greying depending on the strength and amount of bleach (if any, I have yet to see a formula and it doesn't smell like bleach) used in the product.

I wouldn't use it every time I washed a car though, once in awhile havn't caused any problems in my experiance.

Well hopefully this Emerald Series stuff is just as good when I'm done using up my foam. :p

One thing I'd like to add about the TW Gel is I think it's a much better buy than Endurance - at least the ones I've seen here. The TW Tire Gel bottle is 475mL while the Endurance is only 300mL. I usually see the Endurance for the same or more money, so you're getting 60% more with the TW. Meguiars does sell Endurance in a 16oz. (475mL) size but I haven't seen one.

None of them seamed very oily after I buffed them off. Its hard to say for dirt/dust attraction since I live on a dirt road. I get dusty tires regardless of dressing :(

The neon green bottle is the one I used, and I think I will stick to using that for awhile. :)

Same here. I really like the smell of the TW stuff too. BTW, do you think it might cause a little browning? I've noticed a tiny bit on the outer edges of the sidewall.

That Meguiars stuff lasts along time, I wash once a week, and I can get about 1 month (4 washings) out of Meguiars before reapplying it. I replaced my "Griots Rubber and Vinyl dressing" with this product.

My favorite is Black Magic. This stuff is fantastic. I put it on, and it lasts about 3-4 weeks raining once a week. However, you have to really let it dry or it will fling up on the side of the car. But as far as gloss and durability, it is by the far the best. You have to but it in the spray bottle, not the foam. The foam doesn't seem to work as well.

303 Aerospace Protectant will always give you the least amount of shine. It is not a tire gel but rather a UV block for your tires. It will restore the original black look (like factory new) to your tire. You have to really clean the tire first before applying. I personally like the look of a new black tire as apposed to an artificially wet looking tire. If properly applied, it will not come off on your hands and does not attract dust.

TW Tire gel is what I use right now... it gives a nice, even sheen and doesn't attract a lot of dust... our streets are really dirty and dusty, but it withstands 2 weeks of harsh road conditions (including flood waters) quite well.

I haven't tried putting 2 or more coats on it, maybe it'll last longer...

BTW, I still clean my tires using a tire brush once a week (although I wash 3-4x a week)... TW stays on quite well. The shine diminishes after the first 4 days or so, but the black sheen stays for about a week + more...

I also use the Meguiar's tire gloss. When I clean the sidewalls, I spray Armor All Tire Foam and let it completely disappear. If they're really dirty, I'll use a stiff-bristle brush, hose them down, and then wipe the sidewalls dry to remove excess filth. Then I apply the tire dressing. That seems to have worked well for me. Little effort with no problems. The Meguiar's stuff smells like grape juice, too. :)

Anyone have any experience with the Stoner tire dressing (spray)?
