I had a gasoline spill in the carpet of my suburban and that residue that was left after it evaoprated is producing that gas odor.

Any tips on removing that residue?

Just kidding of course! Gasoline is extremely difficult to remove in my experience. We generally open all the doors and air out the vehicle while we are cleaning it to start. Then we repeatedly shampoo and extract the area where the spill occured until the smell diminishes. In extreme cases remove the carpet and pressure wash or replace if necessary.

The above tips given are very helpful but you will most likely need repeated applications of them as gasoline smell is very difficult to get rid of. It is recommended to sprinkle baking soda all over the car and let it sit a few days then vacuum up and re-apply it.

You can also set out charcoal, obviously not the type made for BBQ's with lighter fluid soaked into them :) , but you can get some charcoal used for fish tank filters and spread it around the car. OR you can replace the carpet!

Good luck,

Anthony
