Tips for properly using a Quick Detailer product

Folks,

I'm looking for ways to quickly clean my truck so I can layer KSG over the course of a week. The paint will get 1-2 days dust accumulation for typical suburban daily driving to work and back (assuming no rain) between cleanings.

I'll be using Megs final inspection since I've read that it doesn't leave behind any residue that would prevent the next layer from sticking. Would Sonus Glanz be better since it is made to go with KSG?

As for the technique, do i just spray the panel with QD and wipe it off with microfober? I don't want to cause scratches but I do want the surface clean for the next layer.

Suggestions?

Qd's are meant to be used on a clean car. You should be looking for a waterless wash type product instead if you don't want to wash your vehicle prior to applying SG. There are a lot of waterless wash type products that would work great for you.

Sonus Glanz is an awesome product and does work well with SG, but I don't recommend it for your intended purpose. Now, after you apply all your SG layers, Sonus Glanz would be a great choice as a *booster* to maintain your finish.

All of this being said, imo, I would just wash the car. The last thing you want to do is start marring your finish at the same rate as your are trying to build it.

I'm with JDookie - I used to QD alot back when I couldn't "see" swirls. Nowadays, I find that I only QD directly after a wash, in order to add gloss or remove waterspotting. Even with the "right" towels, product, and technique, it always seems to chew up paint over time.

So QD is just the clean up the few dried water spots/missed spots left after a wash and dry?

What are some of the better waterless wash products out there?

I use Chemical Guys ONE. There are others out there (can't remember them -sorry). The QD is great for a quick shine or after a wash.

I agree with JDookie. With 1-2 days of dust, it's probably better to do a rinseless wash like ONR or QEW. Much safer, although you do have to spend a bit more time (30 minutes, about)
