Tips for finding swirls in high pearl paints?

Im about to apply that to my e46 328i, and am wondering if it is possible to put zymol over top to enhance the look.

Or if this is totally wrong, just respond with a no.

Try it on a panel first, you may want to Meguiars Gold Class then wait a few days before putting on the Zymol.



The Meguiars GC is a good product, easy on and off, nice shine, but it just doesn't last very long.

I put the gold class on earlier today, its supposed to be nice later this week so ill try the zymol then.
 
I've got a small problem and I'm not sure if I am cursed or lucky. I typically use a really bright LED torch to hunt down swirls and scratches. On non-metallics and metallics it is no problem, just point the light and frown.

My wife has asked that I 'do my car thing' on her Toyota RAV4 in Blizzard White Pearl. Just to give me an idea as to what I'm up against, I pulled out my light to check the paint's condition. The paint really reflects the light and I'm having trouble picking up any defects at all. The light has a couple of different power modes, but I am still unable to pick up anything.

Any suggestions? or should I say 'hell with it' and clay/wax and be done?
 
Try looking at it from all different angles. Eventually, you will find the angle where you can see the defects. If it is so hard to see the defects, and it is a daily driver, don't worry so much about it. On light colored cars, if the swirls are not noticeable, I like to use a AIO product.
 
If it looks good in sunlight I would not worry about it . Save the paint for when you may have a real more serious problem down the road would be my advice.
 
Try parking under one of the strong lights at the Mall parking lot. Also try different angles with different lights also to see that helps. Some different LED lights help in that area.
 
I'm sort of a flashlight nut and high power LEDs are a dime a dozen in my house, I'll give another light a shot and shine at every angle that science will allow. The paint is probably in decent condition as it has never seen an automatic car wash, just the two bucket method since day one.

Speaking of AIO products, does anyone have any suggestions? I REALLY love Collinite 845 and would like to top it off with that product. Maybe, M205 on a finishing pad followed by 845?
 
I've had good results using a halogen work light in a closed off space (the halogen is the only light source), and setting it at a sharp angle to the paint surface, usually a bit further away from the car than I normally have it.

My wife has a Highlander in that same color. Try looking at it under the lights at a gas station after it's good and dark outside.

AIO? Try Klasse, green pad, PC and don't forget to top with BFWD. or AGHD
