Tips - Do you split?

You clean a car /boat /Rv and the owner gives a tip. Do you give some to your Helpers?

What if you are already paying your Helpers generously?

If you do split, do you go 80/20, 50/50?

Yes, that is my idea. As an owner, I am making my cut.

I have usually given them all of it. One time it was because I did a roof with like 14 inches of clearance from point tree branches. Even when I am paying them 20 an hour, would you all five it to them? I do, but many day that I am cutting myself short.

I am doing the majority of the work, and all of the machine work.

Yet, there is something to be said about keeping your employees happy.

Waitresses make under 3 an hour (or use to), and they get all tips.

I could hire someone for 8 bucks an hour and give them all tips.

But, isn't the tip for me, for the company... Because I have paid my employees do they do a good job.

I am sure there is a logical middle ground somewhere. Perhaps it is splitting, but not equally. I can just add some to their pay. But handing them cash and talking them the owner likes it, gotta car to keep employees happy. That is reassurance. When they know that they earned more for hard work.

Same. I had a relative work with me and we got tipped $20 a piece and I let my relative keep the $20. She earned it.
