Just noticed that I have tiny specs of wax left on different spots of my hood. They come off, but require an extreme amount of pressure. Anyone else have this problem? I didn't notice it at first, and you have to look very closely.

I have noticed the same thing. Usaully I see it when I am applying it to the car. I always thought that it was normal. I would rub it in the best I could then like you remove it more thouroughly when done. Z-6 sure makes it easier:).

it will come off with Z6 later. Wait a few hours and give it a shot. I haven't noticed this myself. Did you clay prior to applying the Z5? What was your prepared surface like?

Question to the people seeing "wax specks": What are using to remove the Zaino polish?

I put it on so thinly that I can barely see any residue to remove and have not ever heard of this before or seen that happen.

100% cotton towels. It may have to do with the humidity. The residue clumping a tiny bit. I wouldn't say it is a problem just an interesting occurance.

ummh. Interesting report. I have not run into this situation, but some have. And, some have not. I think we need more data.

Are you sure that you rubbed all the paint (i.e., did not miss any places)? I ask this because a primary question is "are these patches just missed places, or, was the paint rubbed until glossy, with no patches, then the patches appeared later?" Can you tell us?

Darbh, hehe, I see your name on the top 5 threads as the last person to post! I guess your sort of a night owl like me!

Anyway, I got those specks of wax after I did my first coat of Z-5 also and they aren't spots that were missed. Since they are so small, I didn't notice them when first removing Z and there aren't that many of them. I only noticed them after I read this thread and went back to my car for a closer look. I used MF towels for removal and rubbing them hard will take them off and so will picking at them with your fingernail. I'm sure both methods aren't good for the paint, so using Z-6 is probably the best option. I think maybe (and this is a big maybe) that those specks of wax clumped on to oxidation stains on the paint because they do seem to occur more on the hood. I didn't clay my car before applying Z-5 and I knew my paint wasn't perfect.

Koy, did the Z-6 make them easy to remove for you? Because even with the Z-6, they weren't that easy for me to remove.

Other than that, I am very pleased with the results of my first coat of Z. Applying it almost felt like I was a applying regular wax and removal was a breeze, except for the specks. However, the specks (at least for me) aren't really a problem and the shine on my car is very satisfactory. I'll try to apply my next coat as thin as possible.

Hi Intermezzo330I -- you are right! One night owl here. When I post, there are seldom others on the site (particularly because most members are on the East Coast, where it is now 3:51 A.M. !

I think your idea about the paint not being clean is probably spot on. I agree with everything else you wrote. You have good insight and good perception.

Darbh, thanks...fellow angeleno! I have found your posts pretty informative as well....especially that one about the "codes of conduct" for this forum. I'm sure the "founding fathers" of Autopia would agree with what you wrote!

My first Shine & Show at TID. This is from MOL where I did the work last year before Christmas.

The owner of this car is actually my brother. This is his Christmas and also New Year's gift. Its a FOC work.

The car has never been detailed properly, he only patrons those cheesy car wash; its cheap he says. LOL

So here are some pictures at arrival.

Interior was just given a quick wipe down with damp MF. Vacuumed and fabric protected with 303 Fabric Guard (thanks PAC!!).

Wheels were treated with M16. Tires on Meguiars ASD. Wheel wells on Meguiars HyperDressing 4:1.

Tires were also properly inflated to proper psi. Battery replaced before all the detailing work was done. I was about to service the car (replace oil & filter) but it was late. Maybe after the new year.

Thank you for taking the time to read the writeup. Comments/suggestions/questions are welcomed.
