This looks way to quick of passes to do a good job... feedback?!

Hey,

I would like some feedback about speed of passes when doing polishing work. I will use the video below as my reference point.

I came across this video today and I was VERY surprised as how "quick" the guy does passes with his DA. (video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8ENMkuNqLA

I am not a pro, far from it, and I am always wanting to learn the 'proper way(s)' of doing things, and i've always heard to go slow... so when I saw this, I was like... wait a minute here!! Unless the video was accelerated (didn't look like it on those shots with the detailer), he does seem to go real fast...

I would love to hear feedback on this.

(Disclaimer: This is not my video, I have no access to the guy to ask him questions, I am just using this video as reference pertaining to a specific technique. I am also aware that I am unable to ID what part of the detailing process he is doing and therefore It is very easy to criticize and such. I am not posting this to knock this person's way of doing things but to try and get feedback about paint passes technique as seen in this video, so I know where to stand and hopefully continue to learn on what to do and not to do).

Thanks for any constructive replies.

Yes, alot of polishing processes were used with too fast of arm/machine speed. I'd rather slow it down and let the machine/polishing compound do the work. Less time and better results.

Looks like what we call "tickling" ...not real correction, but hard to say without knowing if the shots were embelished for the sake of filmimg...I know if my guys were moving that quickly I would have them start over because they would be wasting time...

thanks for the confirmation that his passes did indeed seem a wee bit to fast for proper correction!

While using a rotary I can see starting with a similar movement to get the product spread out. But no chance of me moving like that while working the product.

Probably one of the biggest goof ball moments was when the dude was using a 3401 on the hood while checking his cell phone. That's a pretty boneheaded move.

yeah I saw that and laughed :) not that none of us have ever done something remotely like that... evar!? ;)
