Did some winter prep on my car today with convenient and lovely 70 degree and sunshine weather here in Atlanta. We did a Z-7 soap, Z-18 claying (some dirt, not much), Z-7, Indigo Blue edgeless from AutoGeek for residue removal, then Z-PC on LC finishing pad with PC at "5" then "6". We had Z-2 Pro on previously and several coats of Z-8. I have applied Z-2 Pro X 2 but won't have pics until tomorrow morning.



First off, one tool critical for my success-my trusty assistants Nala and Charlie:

The next pics don't capture the full wetness and gloss I am getting but I will probably get a Nikon D80 for Christmas so pics will improve immensely-the Canon A620 just has terrible optics. All shots after Z-PC polishing:

Further thoughts on Z-PC. It has a learning curve but I like it alot now that I have mastered it. It works best I find with the PC on "6". It's also great on my Makita rotary. It seems to work well with either a cutting pad or a finishing pad.



It was a very good day dor detailing. :)

Scott and I did a little detail on his miata today.



We also used ZPC, but I used a rotary with white LC VC pad. Then we did 3x of Z5pro with ZFX and Z8 to finish. I took a few pics, I think Scott took more.

I know someone is going to get made at me, but what is the big deal when it take several coats of anything to get the car looking good. It seems to me that a really good product should do it in one shot.



Any thoughts?

I disagree, After one coat of zaino, the car looks phenominal. By no means does it take multiple coats to make zaino look good. :nixweiss

My car has just one coat on it right now and it looks awesome! People put on extra coats of Zaino for protection more than anything but I think 1 or 2 coats is plenty.



I'll put on another layer tomorrow morning and take some final shots to post here.

Is that a wheaten terrier? We have one of those too! Her name is Bailey. She is SO wild, but so much fun!







Oh, by the way...the car looks great as well!
 
I also did a winter prep today with some Zaino on my red F150. I washed with Z6 then applied a coat of of Z2. Since I wasn't going to be laying it I decided to not use ZFX. Tomorrow I will do a coat of Z8. The car has three coats of Z5 Pro.



In comparing Z2 and Z5, I think I really like Z5. It seems to look alittle deeper.

If we wanted to be in a hurry, I am sure that we could of got 3 coats on and off of this miata in under 45 mins. I mixed up .5 oz of Z5pro and we still did not use it all. Scott even applied the final coat on the "thick side" No streaking at all....

That looks really wet, especially after only polishing. For me, polishing on silver doesn't really leave the paint looking wet at all, but those are some impressive results you have there.
 
Super wet! I love the look on that Silver, but not so much that black car another user posted...looks kind of plasticy there.



Anyhow, I may have to give in and try Zaino in the spring.

:nixweiss Never figured it out either, because a single layer looks great and protects for months. Probably has to do with mixing Z2 or Z5 with ZFX because I imagine it is really hard to mix up enough for exactly one layer. Anything left over isn't good 12 hours past initial mixing. If you have some left over, it makes sense to apply it rather than throw it out. Am I on the right track?



Lee-your car looks great and it shows that proper polishing is the real key to a beautiful finish. :)

Actually you can do 3 layers in 24 hour period. I put the first layer on last night and I just applied the second layer and am waiting a bit for it to haze up.



So why multiple layers? Several reasons.



**Extra gloss.

**Zaino is very clear optically so layering works.

**Zaino sealant is durable and has no abrasives so I doubt one will remove the prior layer in any fashion.

**Extra protection through the winter time.



Of course, the great thing is that a spritz of Z-8 brings the cars mostly back to original gloss when cared for regularly.

I agree on ZPC. It's a great polish. Flat pads seem to work best with ZPC, and a mist of Z6 on your pad will keep the minor dusting issues at bay.



I hear the upcoming Lake Country CCS pads are 'the answer' for ZPC.
 
I used a finishing pad since it is gentle and my paint is in very good shape. Z-PC works well with a cutting pad as well and really can take out swirls.



Here are the finished pics after Z2 Pro X2 (Z-6 wipe in between) and finished with Z-8.
