I grew up on Long Island and now live in Georgia - I don't miss that weather at all. We are expecting our first frost tonight though. I turned off and drained my outside faucets last night just to be safe.

Same thing here in West Michigan :(

Hi from another West Michigan forum member.

Just curious, but do you know someone with a 2002/3 Grand Prix GTP who also happens to have a Black 96 Corvette Coupe?

GT6

I'm just down I-90 from Buffalo and almost sh*t my pants last night when I saw the snow and that it was sticking. I usually don't take my 18's off till around Thanksgiving and put on the winters.

That's life up here by the lakes though, once you get past September all bets are off.

I grew up in Lancaster, and I can't believe what a disaster this snow storm was. 22" of snow, 380,000 people without power, trees broken, power lines down. My parents lost a few trees, one fell on my dad's truck. Thankfully their power came on last night, but not before their sump pump overflowed in spite of them hand-bailing it.

Just one of many reasons I moved away!

Wow! I know what the weather is usually like in Buffalo in the winter from experience (though I'm from Western Mass.), but that still amazes me, especially as here in central Nippon it's still kind of hot (80s) and humid recently. We get cool, dry (finally!) 'fall' weather in November; that's when things start to resemble New England in terms of cool, pleasant weather, beautiful foliage, clear blue skies :grinno:.

Yeah that sort've reminds me of living in Hawaii and on Okinawa. It took me awhile to readjust after coming home.

I live in Buffalo and can attest to the horrible weather. 22" of snow and no power for 50 hours(just got it back 1 hour ago), they say many will be without power until Monday. A TON of tree damage, a big one next to our house dropped 4 huge limbs on Thursday night. You wouldn't believe all the snapped power lines. I think there was a total of over 350,000 without power.

My wife and I used to travel to Rochester for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I just couldn't deal with not knowing if we were going to get past Buffalo before the interstate was shut down. It's much nicer to visit in the summer anyhow. Nothing made my boss more upset than calling on Sunday and telling her I wasn't sure if I'd be in for work on Monday. Fairport is pretty in the winter though. I feel for you guys.

Well this was highly unexpected. The snow clung to the leaves of the trees and brought down a ton of tree branches, which fell on power lines and made 380,000 of us lose power.

Generally snow doesn't bother us Buffalonians, but the trees don't lose their leaves until later in October. My house didn't sustain any damage, but many other people had branches and trees falling on their homes. It's sad but we'll bounce back. I'm not sure how the national news covered this, but it's sort of a problem up here. ;)

I'm at school because I wanted to get some work done. I had no way to check my email until now, and I needed to see what was going on in my classes. Driving is fine now, but people really need to treat downed-stoplights as 4 way stops.

:) The people are generally in good spirits and helping each other. It makes living with the snow worth it.

Glad to hear you're ok Corey, I was wondering if you were able to drive over to the campus as I heard Amherst had a driving ban. Watched channel 4 news and boy it was bad. Was down in St. Catharines on Saturday and saw that the Peace Bridge was still closed to truck traffic and they were to use Queenston/Lewiston. Fort Erie area much the same as Buffalo, tons of snow and downed power lines. Every time we think we're pretty powerful nature makes us realize that we're not total masters of our domain!

Thanks Ben. :)

Oh, when they mean driving ban they mean "Except Corey." It's implied... I just took back roads. They weren't strictly enforcing it.

The snow melted pretty quickly. I snapped a shot of UB as I was walking up the opposite side of the academic spine.

The snow melted. The past few days have been rainy. I bought some Bosch Icon wiper blades that are AWESOME by the way.

Oh...and on Monday I decided to wash my car since there wasn't anything better to do, and it was a nice day out:

Things are returning to normal. :)
