This is it I give up !!!

As I sold the MPVi we are left behind with wife's tiny ride. So I take the "Black Beauty" to ride down to see to a thing I need to.

I leave the car at a valet parking lot for an hour. The guy asks me if I want a wash. I say "no please no"

:nono

I go and come back after an hour to find the car "wet"... I ask the guy why. He says they washed it. I tell him I stressed it thoroughly that I did not wish them to wash it. He says in a merry tone "why we did it when we saw it was dusty" well I ask him why they did not dry it down. He says it' s an automatic machine and the shampoo the machine used did not require drying... :soscared:

Imagine :

1- Machine wash :shocked

2- Dried out water spots and maybe etches worse :nervous2:

3- Scratches and marring ALL OVER the hood

4- Wax gone all over the car and wet sanded areas looking like crap :bawling:

So I raise hell and the guy just calmly tells me to take it easy. I calm down and tell him I will charge them for all the professional detailing the car will need to be restored. He says "no sir, please read the big sign and the ticket we gave you when you first came in.

I read it to find a disclaimer stating that roughly means they are "not to be kept liable for any damage, loss or situation which may arise from any action or non action of the parking lot services unless it is caused under the wilfull misconduct, be it negligence, recklessness, omission whatsoever." and that by accepting the ticket one agrees to abide by the rules written therewith as though it is a written contract." :soscared:

Man ! I would never have imagined a bunch of parking valet dudes to be so wise !! I asked them what if my car was burned down. He said with a cheeky smile that I had my own insurance right ? :angry

So I ended up with a damage to keep me busy for at least 8 hours or which would cost me at least 150 bucks !!! :grrr

What am I to do ? I guess I should give up... There are way too many #$é%&@ people out there to drive you nuts...

I QD' d all over the car so I can get rid of further damage which might have been caused by the drops of water. The b...rd stood and amused himself watching me as I did and he even was cheeky enough to ask me if I ever thought of using the QD of Carpex (a crappy brand made at Illinois and packaged here)

I wish I had my M98 with me !!!

Wow! That's really disturbing. I feel your pain!

My wife always wants to valet at the mall so we don't have to hunt for a spot and walk. I'd rather not (cheap and paranoid?) and your experience gives me some good ammunition why we shouldn't.

Even if you accepted the ticket, you expressly told the guy you didn't want the wash and they did it anyway. I think that constitutes willful misconduct! I'd call and talk to a manager or maybe call the local news station if they have one of those consumer advocate reporters. A less than complimentary news story on their business might convince the owners to pony up for the professional detailing for your "black beauty!"

sorry to hear that. some people take it upon themselves to do whatever they want these days and don't take consideration for others...

Wow, Thats awful! I would have seriously considered kicking that guys ***!! I would call the manager and at least express my displeasure!!

Damn the press !! There are no channels which would probably care... Besides, I have heard of rumors that these guys go to the place subject to the complaint and bargain on commercials on their channel. If the guy refuses it is only then they make it news...

Complain to some govt. body, they go and charge them with a penalty. So the govt gets some 500 bucks penalty to throw into the treasury but what do I get ??? Nothing !!! :tumblewee

I remember now; I told the guy that I told them especially NOT to wash the car. He told me I never ticked the handover form in the box NO for valet-wash... I have big time being an idiot in this whole ordeal and I am half-angry at my ownself... :hairpull :wall

Sounds to me like it was wilful misconduct. Also, the omission of following your explicit refusal of their "services."

Well I guess after all the advice from you folks I will consult with my lawyer. Not for the money but those suckers would

get a thorough kick in their pants !

Thus they will never do that to anyone else (or revise and correct the disclaimer so they may carry on with their disgusting attitude...

1. I don't know how things work in Turkey, but you may have rights above what a valet stub that you did not sign says.

2. Call the manager. If he's not going to do anything, threaten to get a news channel involved. I don't know anything about the Turkish legal system, but it may be possible to at least threaten a lawsuit, which usually gets a company's attention.

3. It's amazing how ignorant people are with washing cars. The guy most likely thought that he was doing you a big favor, so he ignored what you said.

1- Well as I said for my dumbself, I did sign the stub without reading with a complete absentmindedness. He might as well taken over the ownership of the car if he had known better !!!

2- The cheeky guy was the owner, CEO and CFO and anything you can name him with... We Turks are usually easy going people (mediterranean rings a bell ? Ya know from west to east Spanish, Italian, Greek, Turkish ? We all ave the same mentality) we do not usually follow suit after we yell, fuss n cuss and get over with it.

3- Yes it ws exactly his attitude and when I made a fuss about it, he thought I might shut my trap if he would not charge me for the wash !!!!

I think its BS that you don't have a claim againts them.

He made a verbal agreement not to wash the car, then he did and damaged it. Can't this be taken to a small claims court or something? Did you have before / take after pics?

Anyway ... I can't believe the guy just basically laughed in your face, but you did the right thing by staying calm ... I'm not sure what I would have done, I probably would have thrown him into their car wash, no joke

No I am not BS' ing... I did not make a claim; really...

But after you guys told me to chase it down, I will call my lawyer tomorrow to find out what I can or cannot do about it...

Murat, there is a lot of good advise in this thread but I'm not sure that this is the kind of advise you should be using. Sorry about your car, but good luck in getting the matter settled.

Definitely send them a bill for the costs for you to detail your vehicle. Those signs are invalid. If they damage your clutch, dent your car, etc...while parking the vehicle they are still responsible.

I kinda like the punch him in the face idea, but it just wouldn't work well in the end... :)

:LOLOL

Typically from down under !! No matter why Turks and the ANZACS could not beat one another for so long at Gallipoli ! :D

Man I would' ve loved to but if he gets a simple doctors report that his mark would not heal for 5 days, then I would' ve found my poor butt in the slammer...

try your best to get over it !! you signed the stub without reading the fine print. learn from this experience and move on.

You are right but after reading you guys' replies, I consulted with my lawyer and he will issue a notarised claim of approx. $300 after an insurance inspector deems this is the amount to restore the car' s appearance.

We will see if it works or not... My lawyer says he believes odds are that he will win the claim... Well, I guess that will help ease and soothe the pain...
