Should be fun. :grrr :lol

Maybe break out the air sanders? :woot2:

Bryan,

What area of ATL do you do a lot of your work in? My brother lives in Peachtree City and I make my way down there a few times a year. I would definitely like to grab a drink with you one of these days.

Sounds good Labster. I live in the next town over. So drop me a PM next time you come down.

Ouch....Good luck.

Thanks George.

So far I tried the following with a rotary:

3M ECC on a yellow megs diamond cut polishing pad x2 (not enough cut)

3M ECC edge yellow wool x2 (more like it)

Then followed with the following:

P1500 green edge wool

SIP green german CCS

As you can see this combo is not getting all of the deep RIDS out.

Time to try the air sander with trizact 3k first.

3k trizact better, but will have to make longer passes to get most everything out:

P1500 yellow edge wool 1700

SIP green german CCS foam 1600

You can still see a few RIDS and some deep bird crap etching here:

Got it off of ebay last year. Flashbreaker tape is whats its called. Wish I could find more on ebay, have not seen any since.

Talked to the client. He said to tell everyone watching hello. :)

He is going to go with some halo or some call them angel eye headlight assy, so no need to polish out these.

A before of the trunk as a reminder:

Here are some pics from earlier, trunk is done except for final polish. So this is after SIP.

There are still a few deeper RIDS. I did the left section of the trunk with trizact 1500 before the 3k and that still did not remove the deeper RIDS.

One area registered a .10 mil loss in clearcoat, which is the max that I will remove. All other areas where less then .10 mil (unchanged.)

Thanks for looking.

looks good. what kind of air sander do you use? i want to get one for my suburban that was repainted on one side because of some theft damage. they left so much orange peel and it looks horrible because the rest of the truck is ok. what brand and what throw do you have?

Thanks. I have an airvantage 3/32 throw. I highly recommend the trizact 3k and trizact 1500 discs.

Wow thats bad ,cant wait to see it all done!

Me too. :chuckle:

Wow, amazing job man. What kind of things cause that much damage and swirling (sp?) on a dark color car like that? Is it from people who don't wash with nice and soft towels, or is it from frequent visits to the regular car wash with brushes? I am asking because I am getting a brand new black car next week, and I want to make sure that I don't do anything to damage it or cause swirling or markings on the paint.

BTW, does that Benz have any engine upgrades fro Lorinser, or is it just cosmetic stuff?

Hey, Bryan.

What compressor setup do you use with that sander?

60 gallon upright from HD. I think they where $400 back when I bought it and now they are $450 or so. I have used a 30ish gallon that was 5.5-6cfm. It will work, but sometimes on larger areas it will start to run out of steam.

I'm glad the 3000 Trizact is working out for you. It's addictive isn't it?

David, I really like the trizact setup. I used the 1500 trizact on one section of the trunk, its very "smooth" for a 1500 cut.

Thanks Jimmy! The client just bought this car 6 weeks ago. The car has a sticker from a scratch and shine on the northside of town, so IMO that is where the defects came from. Two bucket wash, quality MFs and wash media are what you should be using.

I believe Lorinser does suspension as well as bling, I do not think any engine work.
