Im contemplating starting my own detail business, wether it be driving to some ones house or at my house, im not sure yet. Im also considering a online detail store and selling products. I was just curious how do you go about getting products in mass quantities(good products) so ill save money and how do you go about getting products at good prices so I can make money when I sell them. Any advice would be appreciated any and all.

Oh yeah, how much do you know to charge? Is there a scale some one has that determines how much for each procedure. I am doing my first 2 cars next week and I know im getting screwed, $150 for a expedition that includes wash, clay, polish wax, and full interior with shampoo and god knows what else will come up.

Seems like you havent quite put all of the necessary time into it yet. I went about 6 months of planning before i even though about taking on a customer. I had solid pricing tables, a good business plan, a decent budget. I started once i had all of my information PERFECT! Jumping headlong into something may seem to be a good idea, and you may verywell succede. But being that you are in a very competitive area of texas, I would suggest that you really sit down and consider where you are, where you are going, and how you will get there. To determine your pricing, i suggest that you should calculate how much product cost for each job, equipment cost over a time depreciation, and how much you personally want to make per hour. Then set your prices according to that.

As far as selling products on-line, who is your audience?? Are you marketing to The general public, to your customers, to Autopia?? You need to figure out what products you want to carry, who you want to market to, then you need to contact the manufacturers/distributors of the selected products, and find out how to become a reseller/retailer.

Yes, houston is a very competitve area, my side though is not. As far as taking on customers, they are people I know who have seen my work and want to get there car detailed. As far as a budget im already aquired the budget I need to start, maybe not huge but more than enough to start. And of course I am putting together a rock solid plan before I do anything else, thank you for your input......
