Thinking about getting into it

Hey I am 17 and was thinking about starting up detailing on the weekends after around christmas time where I will be getting a PC and some other supplies. My main concern is that I am scared that I will mess up someones finish. Not from me being bad at detailing, I will make sure to have practice with PC before I EVER touch anothers paint but what if their car is on the brink of clearcoat failure and you were to cause it wouldn't you have to pay for it? I am in highschool I can't afford to shell out money for someone's paintjob on their high end car. What do you pros do.

Also I like working alone as I like the peace and quiet, getting job done by myself..etc. How long does it usually take you Pros to do a good wash, clay, wash, polish/glaze, wax job on exterior?

Why not get started doing other cars by hand? You may be surprised to find out there are plenty of people out there who would much rather see you polish and wax their car safely by hand. You can always add your machine services as you gain more experience.

Also, an average size car usually takes me about four hour to complete. Larger vehicles require a little more time and smaller cars a little less. Hey, I've got a Hummer to detail next week and that's a 7 to 8 hour job.
