So this is going to be a pic heavy thread. Lets start back at the beginning of August. I had bartered for a 3pc spoiler for my 2006 GTO with a buddy. It needed some work and a repaint but I`m more than willing to handle it myself.
So I got to work. Fixed some issues and got it in primer.
Once in primer I blocked with 320 wet and 600 wet. Then sprayed with Martin Senour base and Finish 1 740 High Solids clear. Once cured it was damped sanded with Mirka Abralon disks and polished out.
Then I mounted it and enjoyed the results
Here`s where I went off my rocker. I decided to just disassemble the car and do a full repaint lol. Overall the car was very straight but with 165k miles it had road rash and thin spots starting to show in the clear.
Then I had the glass pulled so I wouldn`t have tape lines around the windows. Also took care of some minor issues with sanding with 320 and 600. Also some 2k urethane filler primer in spots.
Once the main body was sanded with 320 and 600 wet I focused my attention to the bumpers and side skirts. The front bumper needed a bunch of sanding and flexible filler for the deeper scrapes underneath.
Then sprayed with 2k urethane filler primer and wetsanded with 320 and 600
Then I started on the hood.
I refinished and painted the underside too
Rear bumper painted
Up until here things were going pretty well. Then on the last little section of sanding and polishing the rear bumper I burned it. Just shows ya anything can happen.
This is after feathering out the repair area.
Luckily I only needed to dust some color on it after sanding and reclear the top section as there was a nice body line to break up.
Then I realized that the lower valance for the rear bumper was tattered and needed repainting.
