They dropped off a 2003 Honda dog house today

The gentleman tried to give me the key and "take off." I told him we need to have a look before he leaves. So after he agreed to my "revised" price and gave me the key. He was on his way.

One step polish on the exterior to give the paint a nice gloss. Interior would get a good vac, leather and all hard surfaces cleaned/treated.

I had my interior specialist come out so she could see what she was up against.

She almost went into early retirement after looking at this one. :scared:

The boss and I started vacuuming the interior right away. She with the dyson and me w/ the ridgid. Vac as best we could, then brush, compressed air and vac again.

Emptied out the dyson after the mats and just the right side, looks like another dog is hiding in there:

I had to head into work, so I left the boss with cleaning the leather and hard surfaces. Some APC 1:10 and a brush.

Wheel brightener will come in handy on these:

Hope to have some pics for everyone of the completed project soon, but its another busy week.

Definitely no fun, but I bet all of that surface crud comes off the leather with a little scrubbing. I also use a Dyson on the interior of my vehicle, and the "animal" model comes with a beater brush head that really works well on pet hair.

The wheels look like they've gone at least a year or two without any cleaning. What's making the owner care now?

The afters will be very nice on this vehicle, even with just a one step.

I've done cars so filled with dog hair I can make another whole dog out of what ends up in the vacuum. Look on the bright side, Honda carpet and leather cleans up pretty easily even when really dirty.

What's *WRONG* with such people?!?

I don't cut 'em any slack; I haul dogs every day without messing up my interior.

gmblack3a- Hope it's not too awful for the both of you, and that your "revised price" makes it worth it.

Got a customer like that with an Expidition that I would do an interior detail on twice a year. When I mentioned to them the dog hair wouldn't build up so bad if they vacuumed it every couple of weeks, she told me "that's what you are for". Black lab and it gets vacuumed only twice a year when I do it? She lost my number and when I see her at the local QT (QuikTrip), I avoid her like the plague.

Pet hair is always an upcharge, can take so long to deal with.

Some people's attitudes never cease to amaze me

:wall

Those cars aren't that bad. Not in the sense there isn't a lot of work but in the sense that anything you do will make it look 100x better and the client is always stoked with the results.

lol, that's a pretty clean interior actually, based on what I normally see.

^Yep. Dirty but manangeable, and most owners will appreciate the improvement even if it is not 110 percent.

I did a boat on Saturday that had been in storage for a while. Mice had gotten in and had their way with the carpet, life jackets, and anything else they could chew up. Every inch of the boat was covered in mouse crap. It gets better. They unleashed cats on the mice so there was cat hair everywhere mushed into the mouse crap.

Thanks everyone! The client was very happy when he picked up the Accord today. I will try to get some after pics up tomorrow.

The client wanted me to quote a price on his Tahoe, will have a look at that in the next few weeks.

Anyone want to take bets that the Tahoe is at least twice as nasty as the Accord was? :LOLOL

Dirty interiors just, well....say something about the owner IMO. Ewww, I can't help but think their homes are pigsties too, at least in-between cleaning crew days.

Scottwax- I sure don't blame you for avoiding that customer!

gmblack3a- Hope it went OK....not surprised it turned out nice ;)

You'd actually be surprised. For many people, vehicles and homes are 2 different things. Many people view their vehicle simply as an A to B method of transportation, nothing more. They don't care how many swirls it has, they don't care if it's dirty inside, until it gets to a certain point. Their home however is where they live, so that's usually quite clean and tidy. Not to mention, if you have kids and a busy work life, sometimes you just don't have time to clean a vehicle (especially if you try and keep your home tidy).

Here are some after pics, I think I have a video of bucket spillage from the seats. Will see if I can find that. No carpet cleaning, just vac.

I hear you on the swirls and "just transportation", but I've just never known anybody who let the interior of their (personal use) vehicle get really nasty. I know lots of people in the dog world, but other than the folks who own kennels most keep their interiors pretty OK.

Ya know, I honestly didn't even realize that kids frequently make messes in vehicles until I joined Autopia and saw what the Pros here have to deal with...I mean, my friends and I sure never made messes when we were growing up, our parents wouldn't have stood for it, and my friends and in-laws with kids don't let 'em mess things up either even though they don't really care about their vehicles.

Every now and then I'd look at a used vehicle and wonder how the interior got so dirty, but I figured those were rare cases, but I guess I was wrong about that. Live and learn...

Nice work (per usual ;) )! I bet that video is pretty hair-raising (oops, pun..).

No carpet cleaning, just vac.

I bet you were glad you didn't have to attempt to really clean that carpet!

I agree with you on the this one, I as a kid would never have been allowed to make some of the messes that I see. Also realize that if you live in an area where there's a real winter (snow, slush, salt, gravel, etc), interiors will get even worse. Where I live, in the winter it will dip down to -45F at times, so you really stop caring about how your interior looks until summer rolls around again, lol.
