You need to throw then into a bag and ship to me ASAP for disposal. LOL. What did you use to clean them with ? Might try again with you favorite APC and soak them a couple of days in a bucket.

I'd throw them away because they hit pavement, not because they are dirty. The polish you can remove with Dawn Power Disolver. A tiny pebble, not as easy.

What makes you say that it hit the pavement?

I'm guessing because he sees the picture showing the pads laying on the ground. Looks like the are laying face up. i would think a blast with a compressor would take care of them just fine.

Yep. Compressed air might take care of them and it might not. $10 for a pad isn't worth finding out when you swirl the crap out of a panel. I don't let any of my stuff get near the pavement, if a rag hits the ground, its demoted to a junk towel.

I just places them on the patio block face up to take a pic. The pad itself didn't touch the block, jeez if that happened I'd throw it out no problem.

lol I like that "demoted" to a junk towel.

they need some hand cleaning with dishwashing liquid and a stiff brush.

man how did you get the foam so ripped like that? - did you buff with them dry??

Mine never ever look like that. not after 7 years.

Honestly, I think I got them that way trying to buff out some chrome on my company fire truck before a parade. I KNOW it's not what should have been used but it's what I had on hand at the time. I guess this is a what not to do thread...

what about these pads? Don't think they cut as effective when they were new. Had this for only a few weeks before they started to disintegrate

Are you mistaking the partial circular divots along the edge of the for rips?

japjoe7... just wash them real good, as others have stated.

And don't worry about whether you were too hard on them or not.

Foam pads, especially open cell pads DO tear, and DO wear out.

And get one of these:

Radio Shack Illuminated Microscope- $11.99

This way, if you even suspect there's dirt or rocks or whatever stuck in your pad you'll be able to easily identify it. I use mine religiously to check whether my sanding discs have worn.
