The "Where is OCDinPDX"? Thread...

OCDinPDX

Paint Ph.D
Had I known people were interested in my trip and its progress I would have posted this two weeks ago.

At present I am in Tempe, Arizona where it is 103 degrees outside and despite being a dry heat, is absolutely miserable.

Tomorrow is the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. I'm going to spend the night in Vegas and do $20 in blackjack, that's it. If I win big, fine. If not, great.

There is no thing as a "dry heat" its just plan hot lol. I've been to the GC, HD, and Vegas and loved it that was our vacation last summer what a great time (im going back to vegas when im 21 ;) haha)

Have fun on the trip and dont fall off the dam  :lol2: good luck in BJ too :yourrock

Are you staying with Norah:D

Glad to here you have made it to Tempe.
Hoover Dam/Grand Canyon are gonna blow your mind if you've never been there before:bigups

I hope you have a safe trip the rest of the way, not tryin to freak you out, but there was a Deadly Interstate Accident here today that took the life of an 8 year old girl:( Some jerk got in a hurry and cut off an 18 wheeler who then swerved and it was all over at that point....Jerk is in jail facing some serious charges.8 year old girl is in our Morgue:(

Thanks, gents. If I win big in blackjack, I'm going to do some upgrades and replacement of worn-out parts on my car and blow the rest on more detailing equipment.

As for the safety, I saw two accidents today. The first one was just outside El Paso, Texas on a frontage road of the interstate. A silver SUV was on the frontage road and hit the embankment and flipped. It had just happened too as emergency crews had just gotten there.

The second accident involved two cars outside Tucson, Arizona and both had left the freeway in a pirouette in the dust. Didn't look like anybody was injured but that didn't stop the idiots from slowing to 35 in a 75 just to gawk. They damn near caused an accident rubbernecking. I hate that.

I'll be in vegas sunday night. I get in at 11pm then to hotel. if you're gonna be there for a while, ,eave me a pm. I'll be at flamingo till thursday.

Theres a super 8 about 2 blocks of the strip to tthe east if my directions were right. Nice inexpensive room. (Was $49 for family during week with coupon in 2004.) They have casino across the driveway and slots in the lobby. Did NOT do either when stayed there over night, but wife did shopping and the only thing left from that stay is 3x tee shirt that I wear all the time now. Probably the cheapest thing she bought that evening, and the only thing that hasnt been thrown away.

Made it to Vegas. It's total sensory overload so I'm going to hit the town in a bit and meet up with Ron when he gets in.

Wow ocdinpdx! u made to my neighborhood sort of speak. I live 45 minutes north of the Cross in effingham il. I glad u are having fun on ur trip.

Alrighty boys...the final jaunt begins in 10 hours, 24 minutes.

At 10 AM, I will hit the road in the hopes of returning to my home state in time for bed. I will NOT be pushing through to Portland in a single sitting. For one, 16 hours on the road is just too much. I did 785 miles from Portland to Salt Lake once and that was 13 hours. I was ready to shoot myself. And second, I have no need to get home at 2 or 3 AM. It would piss my parents off. :rofl

So I'm going to get a hotel room in Ashland, Oregon which is about 275 miles south of home. I'll rest up and then continue the drive north and get home around 2 PM or so Friday.

I've had fun on this trip but I'm more than ready for it to be over. And if the car could speak, I'm sure she would second that emotion. :lol2:

OCDinPDX,
I promise you this adventure is 1 you will look back on for the rest of your life:bigups
I elect you "The Offical DetailCity News Correspondant"

We need to start sending you to all the Detailing Events around tha World 4 u to report on:rockon

800 miles normally takes it out of me. I'm so stoked to get home I didn't start wearing out until about 100 miles into Oregon so I'm holed up in Roseburg, about 125 miles north of the CA/OR border.

I discovered something about myself on this trip. I have an OCD that will not allow me to stop short of entering a new state. That same OCD will not allow me to stop without at least driving another 50 miles into the new state. I think it reads a bit like this, "Well we're already this close, why stop now?"

And..."Well we made it in, why stop this close to the state we just left?" :rofl

Another 175 miles tomorrow and I am home!! :bow

Made it home and boy am I glad I did not wait any longer. People are getting a start on the Memorial Day weekend and traffic was a total nightmare from Eugene all the way up to Portland. I broke 55 probably once and never really got a chance to use the cruise control. Took FOREVER!!!

As for the driveway drains, they were only done YESTERDAY so I have two weeks before my poor baby can get back in the garage. I'm going to contract a friend's driveway and garage for a much-needed detail tomorrow.

Edit...for those of you wondering the total number of miles driven:

Start Odometer Reading: 110,383 (3.17.09)
End Odometer Reading: 121,189 (5.22.09)

Total Miles: 10,806 miles

No problem guys. I'm glad you've enjoyed the pictures.

I'm in the process of uploading more right now so check back in that thread; page five.
