The recovery of an Orient Blue 330i (30+ pics)

Hi all, just finished up this battered 330i. Quick story:

Car bought new in June 2002. The owner loves his cars, but somewhere along the line, he just stopped washing them himself, taking them to the local carwash to be swirled up:nixweiss . We talked about doing this for a while, and we finally got around to it.

The car was in rough shape, but I think I achieved 90%+ defect removal.

The Process:

Interior:

Vacuum

Clean all surfaces with Meguiars APC 10:1 and 5:1

Protect all plastic/ Vinyl with Optimum Protectant Plus

Leather treated to Zaino Z10 Leather in a bottle

Glass with Duragloss FCS

Exterior:

Duragloss CWC + about an ounce of APC in foam gun

2 Bucket method with CWC

WW Dry

Clay with Megs and ONR Lube

Final Inspection wipedown

Polishing:

Menzerma SIP on a purple LC Foamed Wool at 2000 with the Metabo

Menzerma PO106ff on a Meguiars W8006 Polishing pad at 1200-1500 with the Metabo

IPA Wipedown

LSP:

Optimum OptiSeal

Pinnacle Souveran Spray the next day

Meguiars Wheel Brightener 2:1 x2 with the Karcher

TOL Tire Cleaner 1:1 to clean tires and wells

Poorboy's Wheel Sealant

Total time: 15 hours:buffing:

Pay: $450:getdown

Thank for looking, comments/questions welcome!!

Very nice turn around on some tough paint.:up

You hit it with some strong stuff and it turned out great.

Great work. That was pretty beat at first. BMW's take a lot of time to do correct and their paint can be a pain.

How are you liking your Metabo so far?

I just used mine today for the first time. It's kind of awkward at first but is smooth. I still like the Hitachi for correction work a tad better.

:bow :bow What an excellent job! WOW those sun pictures are a m a z i n g !!!

Great job on those wheels... they are a PAIN!!!

Ok I'm confused about that trunk picture you said "after SIP foam pad wool 2000". Was that the after picture or final picture? There's holograms all over the place...

beautiful work!!!!

517 - using wool at that speed naturally will leave holograms. But see that the finish is swirl free. His next step was 106 to get rid if holograms.
