Well I have also been thinking about getting the new 7424xp if I can wait till May and not opt for the G110. Hopefully, it will be as reliable as the 7424. The Flex may own the 7424xp, but there are points to consider.
1. I see alot of the pros still using a pc and will not part with it.
2. The pc can use smaller pads and carpet brushes.
3. With the new KB method, Kevin Brown recommends the pc over the Flex with this comment. Hope its ok to quote him.
"I think the best option for you would be a random orbital polisher because there is very little steering of the machine when put under a heavy pressure. As long as the pad can spin and not flat-spot (quit turning because it has contoured and then shaped to the panel), you should see great results. For heavy defect removal, a small diameter cutting pad (4" to 5.5") is ideal. Generally, these pads tend to be stiffer than their polishing or finishing pad counterparts, so the flat-spot situation is abnormal.
Knowing this, the Flex should be your third choice.
The Makita BO6040 is a great option because if you desire a forced rotation, you simply can switch this dual mode machine to force the rotation. However- the orbit size is quite a bit smaller than that of the Meguiar's G220 (7/32" for the Makita, 10/32" for the Meguiar's), so there will be a noticable difference when using tall or soft buffing pads.
The G220 has a higher OPM, too, but that is not necessarily a deal breaker for the Makita. In my experience, I have noticed that a larger stroke size can keep the pad spinning more effectively than a high OPM.
I would opt for the G220 if it were me.
You'll get a good amount of drive capability, and it is comfortable to use.
The Makita is a close second because of the dual mode, and it has a smaller stroke so it should feel a bit smoother when running the machine at higher speeds."
This was off a UK forum thats why its about the G220.
In my case, I already have a rotary and as much as I would like a Flex,(hopefully sometime in the future) the pc seems to be a better fit. You just need to weigh your options/needs, then make your decision.
I've read a thousand posts on which towels to buy. Man this detailing stuff can make ya crazy.
