the In Bewtween Steps

Hi again ladies/gents,

So I got my G110V2 in the mail the other day, along with my PO203 and PO85RD.

As the temperature increases and spring nears, I will be soon putting this thing to action. I've pretty much got my process down on paper, and am ready to go. The only question I have is on the "in between" steps.

So I'm going to be using the 203 with a white or orange CCS 5.5" pad. (Dependent upon how the paint reacts - I'm going to do a test spot with the white, and if it's not enough I'll downgrade to the orange.) And to finish I will be doing the 85RD of course. (Topped by Collinite 845.)

My question is this - in between buffing with the 203/85RD and/or inspecting the panel for clarity/imperfections, is it recommended to use an IPA wipe down in between? When and how often shall I use the IPA to wipe down the panel? Also at which dilution? I currently have a 32OZ bottle of 10:1 IPA mixed up. (About 2.9OZ of the 32 is straight IPA if I'm not mistaken). Will this be a proper IPA dilution?

Any help is and will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Keith

Oh, Ill also be using a diluted ONR mix (similar to the QD dilution ratio) to mist the pads before/while buffing. Is this ok as well?

I am also going to tape all of the edges/crevices to prohibit any dusting/left over compound to enter. Sound good? Or overkill? (I get creative with the tape!)

Wipe down with IPA in between each step or when ever you want to check your work. Oils in the polishes sometimes tend to mask imperfections. As for dilutions ... it isn't necessary to dilute - it is more personal preference imo. I can't speak for the diluted ONR as a pad conditioner. I use a dedicated pad conditioner for that.

Hrm, I see. thanks for the reply. The reason I asked, is because there seemed to be a lot of people utilizing IPA between and within their process. I guess some like to check their work with this method more than others.

Can anyone else chime in on utilizing diluted ONR to mist the pad prior to and while buffing?

Use 50/50 IPA:Water. This is what I use for a IPA whip which I use whenever I want to check my work and do a full whip down when I am finished polishing.

As with the ONR as a pad conditioner, that is what I use but at a more diluted level. I use roughly one OZ to 32OZ of water which comes out to 4OZ a gallon which is half the strength of the QD mix.

Sweet deal. I rather use a more diluted strength anyhow. Saves on product.! And it looks like I will be refilling my bottle with a more concentrated strength of alcohol.

Thanks for all the advice so far.
