Well it's time. the Crystal Lacquer C1 goes on this weekend. I'm new to the coating world so I am going to take my time. I did the trunk lid and it looks great. Just like another layer of clearcoat. I'll do a section at a time. I think I am going to like the results.

The RX8 has been fully preped. IPA'd so it's on countdown now. :woot:

How did you get it? Are you a pro? I'd love to get some of that stuff to try, but it is only sold to professionals as far as I know. I have tried C2 and really really like it.

Yes I am a pro. You email them and tell them if you are a pro and they send you a link to buy C1. You buy it and they ship. Did another panel last night. Dang, looks like a new car!!!!

I see. Well, please be sure to update us on the process and how it turns out. I'm very interested in their products. Good luck!

Will do. I am going to take my time and do it right. Thanks

A while back, early March, I was about to email Rob Earle and get hold of some C1. This was for use on my own vehicles. I hesitated, asking myself if I could handle nothing but washes for an extended period of time. Never having used the technology, I figured I would start a little slower. I got C2 instead. Boy, am I glad I did! Loco, I know what you mean...C2 is the bomb! Completely different technology from C1. Better, IMO. Probably the best shine of any product I have used. Great durability and ease of use is about the same as OCW or DGAW. Shinier and much more durable than either, as it turns out, more economical to use as well. I have used this stuff all manner of ways, I have yet to find a weakness! I will make it official. This is the best all-around LSP I have used. Period. I cannot recommend this stuff too highly!

I apologize to MDRX8 for taking this slightly off topic, but I agree, pootoo12000. C2 is great on windows, wheels, and of course paint. It's extremely easy to use. Dirt releases very well, almost as well as FK1000P, but where C2 has the edge is ease of use. It's MUCH easier to apply and remove.

However, the idea of not having to worry about a full detail for over a year is pretty appealing to me! I'm very interested in MD's experience with C1. I doubt I'll ever be able to get my hands on any of it, but I'm still intrigued.

So true...didn't mean to hijack! MDRX8, there is a thread on Detailing World I think you will find interesting. The subject is Gtec v. G'Zox. Lots of tips about C1, but then the thread takes a very cool, Star Wars-like turn. The OP in that thread, Orion, has a laboratory in his detail shop. He makes his own covalent silane coating and has even figured a way to turn the Collinites into water-based QD, with all the qualities of the originals! A very brilliant guy! Worth your time!

Well the process is over. I'll wait till Tuesday and write a little about MY opinions. I will say now it went well. Also that 35ml bottle does not go as far as I expected. It should be fully cured by Tuesday. Hey thanks for the post on DW. Interesting. I am a detailing aholic so something is going to happen within the next few weeks. Maybe a coat of Vintage. I have Aquartz on standby also. Happy 4th.

Looks great! Love the chrome rims. When I had an 8, I really wanted those. The last shot really shows the metallic flake. Would you say the C1 brings out the metallic flake more or no difference?

Looking forward to your write-up on C1 and the process! Thanks!

The rims are the stock aluminum dipped in chrome form LA Wheels. Cost a whole lot less then buying them from Mazda.

Ok here is my review of G|techniq Crystal Lacquer C1 .....

ONR, Clayed, Polished with PO85RD Black Finishing pad, 2 IPO wipe downs. 1 IPO on chrome rims......

C1 came with Lacquer and about 12 small round makeup pads.

In shade or garage...... Tilt 30ml bottle into pad and wipe a section at a time. Wipe up and down and back and forth. You'll see product starting to glaze over. After about 3 minutes wipe and buff with fresh, soft, MF towel. Do one section at a time until finished. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 in ease of application. The pads are only about 2.5" round You can not use a bigger pad cause you only have 30ml's..... Buffing the product is very important... OS on rims and Duragloss on tires. About 10ml of C1 left over. Did not try the water test for beading or sheeting. Definitely not as slick as some other sealants I have used.

Conclusion: Leaves nice shine and a good clear coat finish. I don't know how long it will last because I am a detailaholic and will not wait months to see. IMO PRO Excellent for the person who wants a long term glass like finish. Very reflective. Turns car to a darker shade. Cons: not a real deep shine like a quality nuba. Cost apx. $70 .... I think most detailers here and me would give it a - 1 1/2 thumbs up.

Please ask questions ..... I not a very good review writer. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the review. Sounds like the process wasn't too bad.

I hope you'll check back after the car gets dirty (or however dirty you let it get!). I'm anxious to know how well it releases dirt, how easy it is to wash. Thanks again!!

These coatings are not so slick as sealants. I am using a coating at my mother in laws car wich feels rather rough. C1 is good but I think that opti-coat outperforms both in price, durability and ease of application.

Why do you think that. Have you tried both? I have, but I am still no expert. IMO C1 is better in the looks department. C1 creates a glass coating on the paint.

Update: It is looking better each day making the metallic on my car pop. Also it stays in the garge at night. You can still tell by the smell it is still curing even after being parked outside in 98 degree sun.
