The Flex, backing plate issues

I remember reading that there were some problems with the backing plate that comes with the flex. Well, it happened to me. I was in the middle of polishing my truck and I noticed it rubbing. Will this issue be fixed by just buying a new backing plate, or is there something wrong with the machine itself? Also, can I purchase the white "ring" that is placed between the backing plate and the machine? This peice has been worn down.

Legacy99- Noting that I haven't had this problem with my Flex...



Is the felt ring really trashed or just worn?



Ditto for the backing plate...



Maybe you could file the backing plate down a little bit for added clearance.



Heh heh, I just read through that whole linked thread...some familiar names there...
