The "Do A Search, There's Already a Thread" Thread

Brenton

aka PEI Detail
I love when someone says:

"I heard about this stuff called clay. Wazzat?"

or...

"What's your favourite wax?"

or whatever.

Then someone sensible says: "SEARCH."

Then someone says: "YEAH!"

Then someone says: "My favourite wax is Nu-Finish"

And there we go.

So, let's do it officially. The "This Should Be Closed" Thread.

Do you guys wash with Dawn?

No and I much as love the search feature it doesn't always give you the answer. I recently did a search for certain WG product and the results came back this threads that are damn near 2 years old. The info in those threads conflicted with recent info. Sometimes we gotta start to new thread to get updated info.

Bumpity Bump Bump Bump!

Should i wash after i clay? or The famous is this the right order of things, polish, seal, wax????

The search feature is there for a reason. If i'm one of the first to reply to a repeat thread, i'll normally show them one link and tell them to search it for more info. As much as we're here to help each other, it gets annoying.

You don't have to. Some peeps here do though. I wash, dry, clay with a QD. I will either spray the area again I just clayed or if their is lube left after claying I just wipe away. Then you polish, seal if prefer, allow cure time then wax if prefer.

Just yesterday I washed my car with Soft-Scrub and then gave her a good Pledge shine right after.....anyone else use this method?

I think we should keep the search feture, although i am quity of asking the same question as others i like the search funtion. If im waiting fro a response to a thread its nice to look at some of the topics that are close. for example with the thread i started on is zymol worth it, after starting i did a search to find "simlar" but not the same. Its a good tool to help narrow what your question will be. I say keep it

bullcrap -- I am lazy and want someone to answer my query on the spot - don't tell me to search - ANSWER ME!! - "try using a search noob" UGH if I hear that pretentious come back one more time --- I will get my own my space and post nasty things about you!

LOL! That cracked me up. I know someone who used to wash their car with Top Job...It always made me shake my head.

Yeah, I'm gonna register and post 15 questions, all in a different thread mind you, and then whine and b*t*h, and moan when every one of them isn't answered within 15 minutes. And if someobody suggests that I do a little work on my part by using the search button, I'm gonna complain and post a dirty, mean response. I shouldn't have to look for anything. That's what forums are for; for someone else to answer my every whim.

If someone told me to use the search button, I'd be like "Hey! Get back in the kitchen - and make me some pie!"

I'm gonna spend 30 minutes asking 15 questions regarding waxing, washing methods, what kind of wax to use, etc. Instead of looking thru the forums first when i sign up. They don't even have to use the search feature, Half the time theres already a current thread on the first page of the forum, so it wouldn't be hard for them to see it.

ok guys calm down and come back to reality. some people do do searches and as mentioned before, revive some pretty old threads. some that are interesting and some that should have been left in the archives. If everyone did searches then I'd have nothing to do except :howdy and pack boxes. I'm here and on my new forum to answer questions :D I've never told someone to use the search button even if there is a current thread running with the answer in front of their face, but i will sometimes post a courtesy link to a thread that is good and may give a few different perspectives to a question.:)

Pledge, huh? I've used Sterno to get that deep, wet look......just be careful of the open flame.

How about a seperate forum, maybe right under the "Introduce Yourself" forum that has stickys, tutorials, write-ups, etc that answer the more common how do I..., what is the best..., what kind of... type of questions. Kind of a FAQ for processes, materials, etc.

What needs to be realized is most of the people who join these detailing site it may be there first time on a forum and don't know about the search button. If you're sick of answering a question then don't some one else will do it of notify the person of the search button.

Look at it this way...If everyone used the search button all this information wouldn't be brought back up all the time, I think it's good to stay up-to-date on methods/steps. And there's always new information to add...
