the absorber

hey ppl, i just picked up my absorber a couple weeks ago and was amazed by how well it picks up water. Well, i decided i would wash it the first time, but then i realized that im using a lot of water just for the absorber in the washing machine. Should i be washing the absorber everytime or is it safe to say only every other wash?



By the way, I'm learning a lot since ive been on this board and im thankful David B brought the site back up!!!

My absorber gets rinsed in the sink with hot water after every use. Hand washed with dawn-water solution whenever I take the time. Probably every 3 - 5 washes, maybe longer. If you got your car clean when you washed it, you shouldn't be picking up much dirt, drying it. Dirt on the finish when drying your car is a very bad thing. More swirls are put into car finishes by bad washing and drying habits than most people realize. I sheet rinse, blot dry with the absorber, finish drying with a MF towel, QD to get rid of all the water drips and rivulets, (like that word), that all my vehicles seem to produce. Haven't tried the leaf blower thing to get rid of the trapped water yet.

There is a post that goes into quite a lot of detail on drying a car. I have no idea how to find it with the search feature. Maybe someone will post a link.

I rinse mine in the sink after each use. I throw it in the washer with my towels that lint (don't worry, absorber won't pick up lint) every 3-4 uses. Once the wash is done, rinse it in the sink one more time because the rinse and spin cycles don't completely remove the laundey soap suds.



I bought a yellow one and after washing it with some red towels it is now forever orange! :D

You should be able to find the Absorber at your local Kmart or Walmart or any fine auto department.
