The Absorber Sucks!!!

Tried my new $20 Absorber for the first time today and man did it suck.Drags across the surface, even when I tried blotting it still didn't absorb that much water.I'm going to try and take it back to Zellers. So I used my good old CWB.Just have to make sure it is clean along with your paint surface.I guess I'll try and get a WW.Anyone tried the WW's from Eshine?I'm in Vancouver so the availability is limited.

rockyram....I agree, get rid of the absorber!

There are definitely better ways to dry your car. I use the CWB and then finish the job with my WF drying towels. I think any good quality WF will do the trick.

Hope you get your money back !

rockyram,

Use the CWB and the Absorber together. CWB the car, then use the Absorber to pick up the droplets.

It's one of many different ways to dry your car. I used the two together to good effect for a long time. I've moved on to water sheeting and waffle weaves, but I wouldn't feel left behind with a CWB and Absorber.

I never use my Absorbers anymore. They reserved now for boat and jetski duties. Get yourself some nice waffle weaves from Ranney at Pakshak.com. Once you try them you will wonder how you lived without them.

I have a different experience with the absorber, I love it and use it on almost every detail. They last forever and when you get used to them they are a very good drying tool.

Same here. I guess this is a "to each his own/one's trash/another's treasure" sort of product.

BTW, $20 for an Absorber?! YIKES! :shocked I never paid more than $6 to $7 , so no great loss :nixweiss

Yeah, kinda pricey. It's simply not for me either. I even have a hard time using them around the house for other than small spills without being disappointed :(

I don't like that piece of whatever it is.

I like the big MF drying towels found at target/walmart the most now. Waffle weaves, in my opinion, are overpriced.

I've used the absorber to pick the few water drops left after letting the water sheet off during the final rinse. I think it does a good job for that. Just lay it against the surface and the water is gone when you pick it up.

Today I used a really good waffle weave microfiber towel. One towel did the entire car. Absorbs a lot of water. I'll probably use it on my car.

I have several Absorbers that have sat untouched in a cabinet since I bought a few waffle weaves and the drying towels from Target. They'll probably be put to use on our boat this summer (I use one already to dry my shower).

I like the big Microtex mfs from WM, great for $6.99. I usually do what I can with a WW and then finish the job with the microtex.:up

I haven't thrown away my Absorber yet because it is a "renewable" tool. I have several WWs that are superior in most ways other than once they get saturated, they're done for until they dry again. Once wrung, WWs are inferior in my experience.

I use the Absorber, but it sucks IMO. If it's a little cool and damp outside, you can forget it. It's always just moved water around instead of absorbing it.

I have been using the absorber for the past 4 years, and I find it pretty good in the summer, and not as good in the winter. They eventually get clogged up and you'll have to wash it.

The reason I don't use the california water blade is that you have to make sure your car is VERY clean before you use it, and dry every wipe you go with the blade.

I think I saw some absorber look-alikes at walmart for 1/2 the price, maybe I'll try that out. It's called aqua... something.

That's a good point; the fact that you can continue to use it after being wrung out (unlike WWs or other "towels") is something that WW fans usually fail to include in their rational. I do think MF drying towels are excellent for their absorption volume, but for the minamal cost of an Absorber (or even a large, fluffy pure cotton bath towel), I don't see what's so special about a $35 WW.

I dont have any WW's, but i have found the Absorber to work not too bad for me. I drag it across the surface, and if the wax is fairly fresh is just glides around and pics up any water.

It doesnt work to well as a blotter, and i havnt seen any scratches from it either.

I hope you have more luck than me. I can pretty much count the drops of water these thing can only pick up before needing to be wrung out and them remain too satrurated to do much more.

I have only paid about a third of that price for mine. Not that expensive really
