THATS FRESH Detailed: Ultra Kirill Black Onyx IS300

Thats Fresh

after a few weeks of avoiding pollen, we finally got the lexus in. who were we kidding, the pollen aint going nowhere. the detail needed to be done so i got to work on it today. owner kept the mainbody in great shape ever since buying it from a person who must have washed the car with rocks and drove through rockbeds! that left me with a black car full of spiderwebs, deep swirls, and lots of rock chips. there were also lots of etching and but only a few RIDS.

this was just a day job so i did the best i could in the amount of time. owner wanted special attention to the heavily swirled body and to dehaze that headlamps, sorry no pics for the headlamps.

starting at noon with analysis of body, etchings, swirls and marring...

with the test panel, i tried PG/SIP/106 and PG/106/85RD. i ended up going with PG/106/85RD since the PG got most of the swirls out (=

after the last shot, car was washed with ONR and the LSP was applied and in between curing time, a final wipedown of interior. glass was treated. wheels/tires/exterior trim were addressed.

thanks for looking!

Thinking of getting one thomas? I seen them go for under ten grand but with some miles. I seen some nice ones with average miles for right around ten.

just finished identical car and color with pc

take

m105 w lc 6" orange with firm pressure pc6 for first several passes, then continue to lighten each pass at pc 4 until your last pass is almost floating the pad.

then

SIP with lc 6" white pc 6 with medium pressure for first pass then all light passes after till it breaks down. Speed 6 whole time on pc

Then

106ff with meguiars solo1 (waffle/checkered texture) gray finishing pad at 6 on pc then move down to 4 on pc and lighten pressure

thats the best combo I came up with after tons of testing for the ss black is300 super soft paint

Oh also I had terrible results with IPA wipedown. Hazed the paint immediately almost like a chemical reaction with the ss paint.

Its been over a week and the paint still stands corrected even after no IPA wipedown, so just do your best to correct paint and dont worry about the IPA.

Also you might try the 106ff instead of 85rd, seems like the 106ff finishes nicer on soft ss paint, not the same though with harder clear coat paint. The ss paint really loves the oils in 106ff.

thanks yall.

car looks good. how do you like that foam gun? i have the same one. Did you just use one capful for that thing or what was your dilution rate?

does great. if foams alot and gives pretty good coverage. i think it was about 1oz and i just filled the rest with a stream of water til the suds came to the top

Any luck on those remaining RIDS?

i was able to get 90% of the door handle areas. i didnt have any time for the RIDS or big chips and requested by the owner to just leave them as is as he was going to get car painted again.

thanks ill try on the next one. i tested using the 106ff and it was definitely calling for a finishing polishing. i mean this car was hammered, haha

do you have any pics from that detail?
