That was nice of him to say!

I was stopped at a light today in my '99 Emerald Mica Mazda Miata, with the top down (nice and sunny, upper 60's here in SoCal today - apologies to the snowbound!), when I hear a horn honk, which I basically ignored. Then I hear a single quick, loud whistle. The kind someone makes when they're just trying to get your attention. So I look to my right and there's an older gentleman, sporting a rather well worn fedora (very Indiana Jones-esque), in an older MB 450SEL in near perfect shape. He flashes me the OK sign with his fingers and says "Your car is beautiful, just beautiful. And the shine is simply amazing. Well done, Happy New Year, enjoy!"

I thanked him kindly and, with a large grin, motored on as the light had changed. Yes, I'm a bit picky about detailing my cars, and it kind of makes me feel it's worth the time and effort when total strangers comment positively on it. Sort of made my day, you know?

hehe, i got a comment last night at the gas station. As I was walking in to prepay the pump, a worker that was sitting out front on break gave me a "hey nice car, it's really shiny! what do you use?" I then went into a minute long explanation of all the products I used and where. Getting a confused stare back I told him to have a good night and I went in to pay :D

I had a stranger come up to me at the gas station, the same day that I put my summer wheels on. Carl (Pigeonbus) was QDing the car with S&G while I went in to pay. The guy came over and asked me if it was a new car. I said, "no, but 6 years ago it was new!". :D

Then of course he told me how great it looked, etc...

I love getting comments from random strangers. When normal people on the street notice how nice your car looks, you know that it looks great.

My elderly neighbor has always admired my car. He would always say to me "you have the shiniest car I have ever seen!" :2thumbs:
