Yesterday, I was able to revitalize the oxidized paint on a 1988 red M3. I should have taken a "before" picture, but attached is an "after" pic. Not bad huh?
I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum. I have learned alot.
Nice work. :xyxthumbs It looks like a brand new car to me. I've worked with a couple oxidized red cars and the change is pretty dramatic. Its probably one of the more satisfying colors to detail. Very nice job! You've earned your first Autopia stripe.
First washed with Dawn, then clayed the car and then used Griots Garage Machine polish # 2 and 3 (# 3 is very fine and # 2 is a little stronger). Then we finished it off with P21S.
Another pic, notice that the hood is slightly different color (its been repainted). This car has over 100K miles, has been driven at many track schools and the owner (the guy in the pictures) can't remember the last time that it was waxed.
