thank you carguy

i purchased a pc and some pads and various polish about 3 months ago. i was serverly disapointed when i used it becuase of the hazing with smr and 2.0. well to be honest i put the pc on the shelf in frustration. but over the weeekend i was reading a post from CARGUY were he says something to the effect off- i dont think people understands how much you have to work smr or 2.0. well this motivated me to give it another try

and i worked it and worked it and worked untill it almost disapered. and for the first time it worked no hazing- the small amount of swirls i had were almost gone, and all that was left are some straight hairline scratches that (found were these came from to, my chenile pad has some areas were the chenile has gaps in it, and under these areas the materiel is a very hard synthetic material). i just wanted to thank you for you very informitve post and sharing your knowledge

You are most welcome. I'm glad you discovered this little "secret". It is even ,more important, and equally effective, with slightly more aggressive products like FI-II.

I'm still learning....

Can one of you please quantify the notion of "working and working". Tell me how many passes at what speed or how long you work what size area.

I continue to get variable results when using #9 SMR 2.0 (gave up on 3M SMR on the Porshe as it leaves a bad haze even when I "work it and work it" (defined for me at about 8-10 passes at 1"/second at heavy pressure and lightening up for the last 2 passes or so) on the 993, sometimes I get pristine, mirror like results, other times I get a very light hazing made up of very small, thin, shallow semicircular micro scratches. I think it has to do with putting too much material on the pad (CMA yellow polishing). I ma now putting only enough material on the pad so that it remaions dry when I'm done buffing a section.
