What does everyone prefer when applying 3M SMR??? I know I asked this question already but have not really gotten many responses...

Admins - sorry if this is a dupe post.

Also - from the readings it seems that even if apply 3M SMR by hand, the prefered method seems to be the following:

1) Work in a 2ft x 2ft spot at a time

2) going at it in a straight line

2) and then going at it in vertical lines

Is this correct>>>:nixweiss

Cotton terry. More bite. Foam apps won't be abrasive enough to do any significant removal of swirls.

I don't know about going vertically, but most of us use straight lines since we are trying to remove circular swirls. But if your applicator is clean, any direction should not make a difference. However, being an imperfect world, going in straight lines allows us to see if we are introducing new scratches.

How would a microfiber applicator work for swirl removal by hand?

Microfiber is also too soft.

You can check out the difference in the 'bite' between foam, mf and terry cloth they next time some moron bumps your car and transfers some of their paint onto your car. Use a polish and each of the three materials and you will quickly see terry cloth and the polish will remove the blemish the quickest.
