techniques for 3m Imperial hand glaze

Anyone have any tips/techniques for using 3M IHG? I tried it over the weekend. I applied it by hand, did a first pass removal with the PC and a microfiber bonnet, then buffed with a microfiber towel.

I used a cotton applicator to apply it. Didn't really like the applicator and it was a bear to remove it all. Car looks great though.

Anyway..any thoughts on

1) applicator

2) application techniques

3) removal techniques

TIA!

i do it by hand it it works great. gives you a bit of a workout, but it goes on evenly. back and forth motion in the direction of airflow worked the best at filling the paint problems.

My advice is-

Have several clean dry towels about.

only do one panel at a time-

Be sure the surface is cool..

Great stuff that IHG. I have to cycle through the towels- usually buffing twice- one towel for the inital removal, then again with a fresh one. I'm using plain old white terry cloth ones that you get in a big ol pack..

I've never even tried using a buffer to do it- Hmmm...

I find if the paint is hot, it's way harder to deal with, and sort of streaks- but they streaks get clobberd by the application of wax..

I agree. It's OK if you get a few streaks here and there because the solvents in your final protectant will take care of them. Even so, it's important to apply the product extremly thin and work it into your paint until the surface is nearly clear and dry. Otherwise, removal will always be tough.
