Tailored: 2001 Escalade Farm Truck Rescue

So after a bit of a hiatus from posting anything worthwhile I thought I’d post a fun little detail from today.

I’ve been professionally camped out at a local paving/landscaping/plowing/timber-processing firewood/farm lately as they have been really keeping me busy with their Rigs, Equipment, Personal Vehicles, and so on. It seems every day I show up to work, I literally I find a list of additional vehicles they would like me to work on (now their friends are getting in on the action). Overall I am super-pumped, but the working conditions are a far cry from my dustless, UFO-light-style setup. In addition to adjusting to conditions, I haven’t been mobile in a long time (at least to this level) and I have to drive back to my shop now and again for somethings I didn’t think I’d need.

Well, onto the detail. With a little less than a 6 hour window for the work to be completed, this was setup as a 3-Piece Package from my menu in hope of breathing some fresh life into a work truck. Yep, with a build date of 10/01, this Escalade has spent almost its entire life as farm truck. The goal was to knock down the dirt (in and out), restore some shine, and protect. The work is nowhere near my standards, but I was happy with the turn around, given the time window and condition I received it in.

Process:

Exterior- Pre-pressure wash, SCGRTGD everywhere, Foam Gun with TOL Bubble Bath/ sheepskin mitt and Mother’s Body Brush, Zaino Clay, D151 via Flex and LC White Pad, OSW.

Wheels and Arches- PB Spray and Rinse, Mother’s Tire Brush, EZ Wheel Brush, Griots Undercarriage Spray, and Meg’s Hot Shine.

Trim- PB Natural Look

Interior- Vacuum, TOL APC cleanse on all surfaces via MF

Windows- DeSantis GLD

Time- 5.25 hours

Lots of work could be done to this truck yet, but it's back to the farm road tomorrow so :hifive: call it done!

Thanks for Looking!:2thumbs:

Thanks Barry! I did enjoy turning this one around. Tomorrow he's got a Yukon Denali XL....BLACK! Eeeeesh.

I need to PM you about that new degreaser you got. Looks good.

Great turnaround. It is actually refreshing to see a truck used as a truck (despite the mountain of work you needed to do).

Who uses an Escalade as a work truck? This must be one rich 'farm'. It looks like they have had this had this for a long time, maybe since new?

I also think it's good to see a truck being used as it should be, the Escalade is just a more expensive version of a Tahoe..

It's on jobs like that where a pressure washer is very handy.. the owner can keep it looking ok by just washing the worse off with a PW..

That would be a 2002 model Escalade... no Escalades were released as a 2001.

You are correct, but I am starting to use build dates rather than "Model Years". This car was purchased in 2001 (near the end), built in 2001. Therefore, as for keeping good track of body, textiles, and internals when it comes time for detailing/restoration, using the build date is more exact and helpful to me than a generic model year. :2thumbs:

longdx: Thanks! I think it's pretty cool too. The have very nice trucks and a lot of them! All of their trucks that sport the business colors and logos are loaded with billet and get painted every other year.

Yeah they had this since new. It gets used pretty hard. I would say they do pretty well for themselves as they do much more than just farm...

They have a Tahoe too:heelclick. His emplyees use the PW a fair amount, but then there's the interior and that was their gripe to the owner I think for now. It was in verydirty shape.
