Hi all,

I did search to see if this had been posted before.

Jay Leno's Garage

The polishing pad looks like it has the potential to scratch if pushed too hard.

The wetsanding looks quite harsh aswell, he only used 1500, then removed the scratches with the "magic" one product.

Another snake oil product?

I enjoyed it. It looks interesting, especially the suggestion about it being "safe" for the home user while proudly holding a rotary in his hands. I love that part!!!

Is it me, or was Jay Leno not really interested in hearing anything the rep was saying?

Jay seemed pretty interested to me, especially if you consider the fact that there's probably a bunch of people that want him to try out their products.

My favorite part was when he said, "Hello Armando... Glad I'm not feeding him!". The Tonight Show won't be the same when Conan O'Brien replaces him.

I wonder how much time these systems can save us. They might be worth it if they could just cut 25% of the time we spend on a car.

That stuff looks scary to me. I loved that part when the camera picks up all the paint on that pad, it seems to me that after he realized it then he had to mention it, but tried to minimize how harsh that product and the wool pad + rotary actually are. Safe for the home user he said:scared: That guy must be smoking something. Yeah, I can see me using that on my soft clearcoat.

You always get paint on the pad no matter what kind of paint job you are working with. Even when polishing by hand, you will get that! The key is that most the time we are working with the clear coat, which means the paint we take off is clear, so we don't see it. One a single stage paint like he was working on, the paint is visible as you are working on the pigment layer.

Take a very mild paint cleaner like Meguiar's or Mothers step one polish from their 3 step system and it will do the exact same thing even when working by hand.

To me, this looks very interesting, and the part that kinda attracts me to System One is how he said it won't dry hard on the paint like I know some Meguiar's polishes do. Haven't tried their So1o polish, but man, now I am really leaning towards one of these polishes!

When i heard "yeah, anyone can do it. Rotary is burn proof. Tell that to a body shop and they will laugh at you" ... count me as one of the ones that will laugh.

I wonder how many poor inexperienced souls are going to fall for that and actually go out and get the kit with a rotary.

Well the problem with the solo system is that it is for fresh paint not cured like we work on. The System one polish works as advertised. I have purchased it and had done some spot testing with it and love the results.Toto has used it several of his resent posts.Don't knock it until you try it .It finishes down to a menzerna 106ff look .try it you may like it .The wax works pretty good as well .This system was designed by a body shop and that is Tom the guy in the video and he produces the product in his shop.

The pad you are refering to that he is using is an edge pad with wool on one side and a polishing foam on the other .,It is extremely safe.

The system one product is awaesome, no matter what you will get paint on your pad if it has not got a clear coat on it.

Also if you use a rorary correctly you will not burn paint at all.

This stuff is amazing, it does remove scratches with ease, swirls, even paint over spray, no need to clay if you dont want to.

Its very safe as it contains a lot of water when you read the instructions on the bottle, as i found out when using it, the product seems to stay very wet while using it, which makes it go a long way.

I found it very safe and amazing, saved me around 35% of my time detailing my car, also removed marks, that i have not been able to get out before, when using other products. Had tried in the past Megs stuff, Mothers, Zymol, Menzerna, 3M, Sonus, Klasse, Ultima, none of these would remove the scratches, i am just so glad i came accross this stuff, while looking at some videos on You Tube about the worlds best detailing Company in Yorkshire, England, who do a lot of cars for Cricket players and footballers etc.
