swirl/scratch removing with cyclo

okay iv had my cyclo since xmas and i love it, its an awesome polisher and i use it to apply sealent sometimes too. I am just not good at removing swirls and i was wondering if some of the cyclo experts could help me :nixweiss . I have poorboys 2.5 optimum polish megs scratchx, (along with other scratch removers, gs27, blue coral) and turtle wax ice for polish. Using the optiumum for a final polish i get GREAT results, the paint looks awesome, untill you see the swirls. Any advice? i know i need either optimum compound or something more abbresive but what should i use? Thank you very much i appreciate all the help.

i usually use the orange pads and white for finishing..... i was thinking of ordering some menzerna everyone raves about it....ty

I've had my Cyclo for about 3 years now... you have to lean into it pretty good to get swirl correction. Try the yellow pads with SIP and put your weight into it. The first time that I got my car completely swirl-free with a Cyclo, I had to use Powergloss x2 once on yellow once on orange :wall.

thanks man, im gonna go for that.... i think im a little afraid to apply too much pressure btw i was in portland yesterday haha ..... but are there any other brands you would reccomend with the cyclo? i almost bought some meguiars stuff the other day, or some optimum hyper compound?

A few sorta-random thoughts follow:

I'm not a huge fan of Meg's stuff by Cyclo. It's not bad, but not the best either. I like the discontinued 3M PI-III twins (05933/05937) with it, so I guess I can't be of much help. I think I'd go with the Presta (which I havn't used) instead of the Optimum (which I've only used a few times) or else get the Menzerna.

The yellow pads can wear and lose cut; the orange ones seem to last longer in this regard. I still like the green pads, with a quick final buff using the white ones.

Don't be afraid to lean on it, just be a little easy around corners/edges.

alright alright you guys sold me im going with the menzerna, im not detailing for money this summer at all with my job, i think im going to start to have to again haha

by the way which menzerna products should i go with for the swirls, just the powergloss? keep in mind i have poorboys 2.5 and optimum polish

Switch to the Edge system while you are at it. The pads are pefectly centered every time, plus you shed some rotating weight which seems to add more polishing power.

thanks scott, i have the edge 2000 pads i believe i got them from autogeek, can i ask you what is your swirl remover of choice with the cyclo?

Orange pads and Optimum Compound or if they are really severe, the yellow pads and Hyper Compound or Cleakrote's Compound.

Scott, I thought I'd read earlier that you were a bit leery of using the Edge system. Obviously not anymore. What changed your mind? And how long have you been using the Edge pads?

I figured if Anthony Orosco had full confidence in the system, I'd give it a try. Been using it for about 4 months now.
