swirl remover question

I got a bottle of Meguiar's swirl remover and I planned to use it tomorrow...I have the foam applicator and micro fiber towel ready...my only question is what motion should I use when I apply the swirl remover and remove it?

Is it just straight up and down motion?

If you are doing it by hand it is important to make sure the product is broken down completely then buff off. I would suggest that you apply in 2-3 directions if needed to remove all swirls and fine scratches. If you apply in one direction and can still see the swirls then apply in a cross direction to aid in the cutting action.

I am using my experience as a tool & die maker when I polish steel to a mirror- like finish. I would think the same might apply here.

Whatever you do, wash, polish, dry wax do it in a straight line motion. I think that turns in the best result. :up
