Swirl removal feedback from Meguiars

The first thing you will want to use for your swirl marks is a product of

ours called Scratch-X. Scratch-X is a safe, yet effective product for

removal of very light swirls and scratches in todays paints. Simply use a

nickle size drop of the Scratch-X to work a two foot by two foot area at a

time. Work the product in circular and linear motions for approximately

twenty to thirty seconds per section. For best results, use this product on

the entire car and be aware that more than one application may be necessary

for the removal of all of the defects.

Opinions anyone?

I thought it did absolutely nothing by hand. Other people have said they have had decent results with a buffer. Try using 3-M's swirl mark remover by hand. I had good luck with it.:xyxthumbs

It all depends on how deep your swirls are.

You should always start with the least agresive product that will do the job. I've never tried Scratch-X with a PC but by hand I found it to be way to mild to do much good.

If I was going to do my whole car I would start with 3M SMR or something similiar.

It couldn't hurt to try. Supposedly, Scratch-X is a tad stronger than a swirl remover, but not by much I think. I recently compared the ease of usage of Scratch-X vs. 3M SMR and found them pretty similar in terms of effort. The only thing I'd suggest is that 20-30 seconds isn't quite long enough. When using stuff by hand I try to really work it in until it's drying out a bit more.
