Swirl marks, scratches on black Lexus

I have a black 2006 Lexus LS430 that has terrible swirl marks and scratches all over the car. In the shop under fluorescent lights and in daylight the car's finish appears perfect; looks like glass. But in the evening when the sun is shinning at an angle the car begins to look bad. In headlights from another car or under incandescent lights the finish is terrible!

I spent most of last night going through past postings but have been advised by a fellow member to bring this to the group in a new thread. Not being an expert in paint correction in general, I am wondering what would be an appropriate approach for the paint on this particular car. Some suggestions as to a starting point would be greatly appreciated. I do have a PC for those of you who may suggest products and pads to be used with a PC. I also have a high speed buffer.

I thank you in advance for your efforts.

106 with a white 5.5"or 4" pad. You may have to move up to SIP if 106 doesn't work, but 106 should do it as Lexus paint is not very hard. Finish down with 85rd with a blue pad. Some like Meg's 105/205. Whatever polish you choose, you need 5.5" pads or smaller to do any correction with a pc.

I have a 2007 ES350 in Smokey Mica. While Lexus has the reputation for soft paint, I had to go to SIP with an orange pad to get rid of minor swirls on mine with a PC. There are a lot of variables - I did test spots starting with 106 on white and working my way up until I was satisfied. I was surprised I had to go to SIP/orange.

I suggest you start with 106 on white and work your way up if necessary. Remember to do an IPA wipe before you examine to ensure there is no filling going on. This will help you get to know your paint better and will give you the correct starting point for the future - it is worth the few minutes it takes.
