Well i have to say im a little PO'ed right now. I attempted to detail my Onyx black Silverado with my PC and it didnt come out as plained. Anyways after a wash, claybar and rewash, i went to town with an orange pad and some ssr2 poorboy's polish. I took some advice and only did a panel at a time and took my time doing so. It looked great after i was finished polishing. I then used a grey pad and applyed some Clear Kote red moose machine glaze. After i sealed with natty's blue. I took it for a ride and stoped for coffee and in the direct sun light it looks hazy as all hell. i cant understand what i did wrong or what i have to do to solve this problem. After spending 4 hours doing this im a little pissed to say the least! So i figured id stop by here and let you detail guru's tell me how much of an idiot i am or what i can do to solve this! Please Help! Thanks.

Ok its dark out now but ill snap some tommorow in direct sunlight. I was just reading around the forums and couple people mentioned somthing as in a finishing polish? Is this the step i missed after applying the reguler polish?

I'm going to just guess here but if you only spent four hours and you did the entire vehicle I would say you probably worked too fast and the polish didn't break down properly.

But just a guess. I recently did a new Mustang and it took me around 7 hours and we didn't do a glaze, just wash, clay, polish and lsp.

Yes, you should have followed the SSR2 with a finishing polish. Do you have SSR1? If so, you may want to rewash the entire vehicle and try that out with a white polishing pad and see how that comes out? Do one section, pull out into the sun and check your work. That way you won't end up doing the whole car again if your still not happy.

My favorite finishing polish is Blackfire SRC and Menzerna Final Polish II second.

Yup i have ssr1. I got some Jeffworskett Spray detailer can i do that and repolish with ssr1? or should i just rewash the whole truck again.. Also when applying the glaze its just like applying an lsp i dont have to work it in like the polish correct? Thanks for the speedy response's.

Don't worry about it, you just need something stronger than RMG after SSR 2

Blackfire SRC FP is brilliant, just make sure to work any finishing polish in properly until broken down but not dry

I've been having trouble with yellow moose by machine causing holograms no matter what way I apply it

VM and RMG has never been a problem though

Is this grey pad a Lake country one. To me that is black, not grey.

If you went from light cut pad to a black finishing, then that would not help with the finished result.

Whenever I polish, I use the strongest pad I need to and never skip a pad in the process and always use LC blue or edge white to finish

Also, don't know if you know. But Nattys atleast for me, if applied to thick it will leave SMEARS that could look like hazing/micrmarring in direct sun...

Well i used the orange pad to apply the polish (ssr2). And from there i went straight to a finesing black pad and applyed the glaze then i did the natty's by hand.. Tommorow should i apply the ssr1 with a white pad? then go back over it with another coat of natty's? I kinda wanted to try and use what i had to get the result's tommorow even if i have to go to autozone and pick somthing up. Also i applyed the polish untill it was translucent and started to dust lighting, also i worked it in up,down, back and forth extrmely slow stroke's.

yeah ssr1 with white pad.

also, you will HAVE to apply Nattys again. The abrasiveness of SSR1 will remove all LSP.

Just apply Nattys VERY thin. Less is more! It will leave smears if you apply to thick.

I dont know if its the applicater i use to put natty's on but it seems it never goes on even. Im crossing my finger's that this will work. Also one other thing for each panel a nickel size of polish is about all i need correct?

You can probably get away with just quick detailing the truck instead of washing it all over again since you'll be polishing it again anyways, but I would strongly recommend against the quick detail cleaning in the future though, especially on black paint. There's just way too much potential for introducing new marring to the finish. Try and reserve any friction action against your paint to immediately after it has been washed.

Even then you still need to exercise caution to avoid marring, including using immaculately clean towels and using as little pressure as needed to provide the task at hand. Drying after a wash needs virtually no pressure. Just feather a WW microfiber over the surface. And, if you find that you are needing to exert excessive effort to remove polishes and LSP's, have a bottle of distilled water handy that you can mist the surface lightly with prior to buffing the product off. This will greatly ease the removal process and require much less pressure to be applied.

Guys i really appreciate all the help. Took a half day from work and heading home to do the ssr1,glaze and redo the Lsp. Ill post back with results when im finished. You guys are great!:bow
