Supercharged 06 Mustang GT by M.R. Detail Shop

Make it shine!

This client lives upstate about 2 hours away, without traffic. We had been talking about getting his car done for a while now, after a rain date and a couple of schedule conflicts he found time to bring it down to my house for the detail. The car is an 06 Mustang GT that is very well taken care of, garage kept, only driven in good weather and has been nicely modified. The engine now puts out 437 HP to the wheels and has a few nice touches to bring back the fastback look of the late 60's. Overall really nice car and it was a pleasure to work on.
Now to the write-up. The car had minimal swirl marks and very few RIDS for a 5-year-old car. The client and I had decided on doing whatever it takes, in 1 day, to get the car into showroom condition. I had previously viewed the car extensively so I knew exactly what I had to do as soon as the car pulled up because time was an issue. The only problem I encountered was the clear coat over the racing stripes from the hood to the trunk was extremely hard. The stripes had been painted after purchase and the clear was sprayed so you could not feel the difference between the stripes and the rest of the car, in other words it took many coats to allow that.

Wash:
  • 2 Bucket Method with Grit Guard inserts, Dawn (to strip any protection that was on the car), and Uber foam sponge.
  • Dry with Microfiber Waffle Weave towel
  • Wheels were cleaned with Meg's Wheel Brightener and various brushes
  • Tires and wheel wells cleaned with Meg's APC+ (4:1 ratio) and various brushes
  • Exhaust cleaned with Invisible Glass, steel wool 0000 and polished with Optimum Metal Polish
Paint prep
  • Pinnacle Poly Clay with Dodo Juice Born Slippery clay lube
  • Hood, roof and trunk M105 and 3 inch flat Orange LC pad with PC 7424X
  • M205 5.5 inch flat White LC pad with PC7424X
  • Menzerna Final Finish 5.5 inch Blue Uber pad with PC7424x
  • Danase Wet Glaze 5.5 Black Uber pad with PC7424X
Under hood
  • Wiped down and protected with 303 Aerospace Protectant
  • Metal pieces polished with Optimum Metal Polish
LSP
  • Wolfgang Fuzion Estate Wax
  • Tires dressed with Optimum Tire Bond Gel
  • Wheels sealed with Poorboys Wheel Sealant
  • Trim 303 Aerospace Protectant
  • Glass Invisible Glass
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the owner of the car for bringing it all the way down to me for the detail. I had a lot of fun working on such a nice Mustang that reminds me so much of the 67-69 fastback classic. Can't wait to see this Mustang for an early Spring clean up. Enjoy the pictures!

Looks nice & shiny..any interior pics? or do u only do the outside of vehicles?

Thank you very much. On this particular car (and the 06 Mustng GT I posted last week) were only exterior jobs. As they both rarely get driven my clients were more interested in getting the exterior back to better then new condition. I will be visting the Viper again the fist weekekend in October for the interior, engine bay and another application of wax. I'll post the picture of the interiors then. But yes I do interiors as well.

Very nice work! Torch red is an excellent color that really pops when done right. I did this torch red '06 Mustang last Sunday.
