I just bought a cd player a few days ago, and I got some super glue on it.:shocked There's some on the front on the clear plastic and then some on top, on the grey plastic.

Desperately need some advice on how to remove. I tryed goo gone, but it has not succeeded. Someone told me to use alcohol or finger nail polish remover, but Im afraid it will be too harmful.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, ROnnie

That's going to be a tough one, as a lot of super glues actually melts the plastic to form a bond. Best bet would be to take a razor and gently scrape the glob off. It may leave a little mark on the plastic though. Any solvent that will remove the superglue will probably etch any of the plastic it comes in contact with and make it even bigger and more noticeable. Good luck.

well im going to keep putting the goo gone on it to try and soften it up, but if that wont work, ill try the razor blade :( But more than likely i wont and Ill just leave the glue on it.

Thanks for the Reply :)

Try straight reducer and immediately wipe with a damp cloth. That should work well.

Well i tried the acetone, and it ate the paint off the top and ate the letters off of the front but did nothing for the glue. Oh well, looks like ill have to live with it or purchase a new HU face. Thanks for the help anyway.

Ron, your talking about super glue like "Krazy Glue" right? If so, go to your nearest Hobby shop (one that has model airplanes that you build from scratch) and get your self some "Zap De-Bonder" which is formulated to remove super glue. I've used it to clean off super glue off my hands.

Warning: I'm not sure how if it will react to the plastic face on your HU...So proceed with caution.

Well i just gave the cd player to my g/f, she needed a good one anyway. Im just going to go out and buy me another. Im just too picky, it's like looking at your cars paint and seeing a big scratch that's through the clearcoat that you cant get out. But i guess most of everyone on here is like that :D

Thanks for all the help.

I know this is wrong, but I took the cd player back to best buy and exchanged it. Told them it was on there when I got it. :grinno: I felt bad,:scared: but they can afford it. :p Shhhhhh :nono
