Suggestions on Wax for (Red) Car?

Just wanted any suggetions on what works best for red cars?

I've been using NXT Tech for a while, but i'm going to do the Klasse AIO -> NXT -> #16 and give it a shot. Any other suggestions?

I am currently using AIO --> Z2 which looks really good on my red car. I had been using AIO --> SG --> S100, but this gets me a very similar look and takes one less step. Not to mention that Zaino is much more durable than S100 and at least for me, a bit more durable than SG.

While topping a synthetic with a carnauba has the advantage of bringing out a bit more depth, I prefer being able to add new layers of synthetic without stripping the carnauba, so I've simply stopped using carnauba, at least on my red car. It still looks a bit odd on our metallic black car, so it gets AIO --> S100, skipping SG or Z2. Not that AIO isn't a synthetic, but it doesn't give the same appearance as either of the sealants.

If you're going to go to the trouble of keeping up a carnuaba finish, I'd give Pinnacle Sovereign a shot, it's a bit pricey but really brings out nice depth in red and other dark colors, especially in non-metallic paints. Of course you won't lose anything but time experimenting, I haven't tried topping NXT with anything, so go ahead and try 16 over it on a panel and see if you like the difference.

I like to try multiple things on different panels just to see how they look and how they hold up. It's also a good way to find out how much combinations dust up and deal with water spots. Have fun!

yeah think it should be interesting. The NXT Tech has done me well, but i've been looking to add a carnauba to the mix, i'll post what I get on Friday. Also, how long do you usually wait between applying layers of wax??

Mamamia, you finally found your way to Autopia! :welcome

I agree, Mothers Premium hybrid wax looks great on dark colours. The polymers provide durability and the carnauba creates depth and warmth. An underated one-step. :bigups

Another option would be #26. It yields a slight darkening of the finish that #16 doesn't. #26 doesn't last quite as long as #16 and doesn't bead water as well but it is good for 2-3 months depending on conditions.

Hi porterror,

I have a laser red Saab 95 Aero. I have been using Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion to polish and then sealing with 2 layers Menzerna FMJ.

The first layer of FMJ will give you a reflective look. Apply the second layer of FMJ 24 hours later. The paint will look glossy, wet, and deep. The clearcoat looks as if it is an inch thick.

To my eyes, this combination works very well.

Good luck in your search.

dam that pinnacle so expensive though. crazy prices compared to #16 or even S100

Nice stuff though ;) Awesome on Red.

You could always check out the expensive zymol line if you want your jaw to drop.

I've liked NXT or Deep Crystal 3 on reds, NXT seems a bit more reflective, while DC3 is a bit more deep and wet....Both should be locally available, and when applied with a PC and finishing pad, they'll come off super easy!

Pinnacle really doesn't cost that much if you think about. The 6oz. jar of Signature Series cost about $35.00 and you get about 15 details for it If you do the math thats less than $2.50 a wax job. For that kind of result you can not beat it.
