suggestions for steam cleaners

Auto Deailing
Hey,

I have been researching steam cleaners online at Xxxxxxxxx and other sites. I have an apartment and I am looking for steam cleaners that would be beneficial for the different uses I have. High temperatures are important, because I have kids and keeping the apartment sanitary is important. Spot cleaning capabilities are also important, as spills are something we know well. Does anyone have any suggestions for steam cleaners that would meet these needs?

Thanks.

Good stuff though, and great customer service. I for one am very happy I went with Daimer.

A-hem, that would be a shill-er :)

A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer. The intention of the shill is, using crowd psychology, to encourage others unaware of the set-up to purchase said goods or services or support the political group's ideological claims. Shills are often employed by confidence artists. The term plant is also used. Shill bidding, found on many auction sites such as eBay is punishable by law [1] and may result in fines and or prosecution.

Shilling is illegal in many circumstances and in many jurisdictions because of the frequently fraudulent and damaging character of their actions. However, if a shill does not place uninformed parties at a risk of loss, but merely generates "buzz", the shill's actions may be legal. For example, a person planted in an audience to laugh and applaud when appropriate (see "claque"), or to participate in on-stage activities as a "random member of the audience", is a type of legal shill.

"Shill" can also be used pejoratively to describe a critic who appears either all-too-eager to heap glowing praise upon mediocre offerings, or who acts as an apologist for glaring flaws. In this sense, they would be an implicit "shill" for the industry at large, as their income is tied to its prosperity.

Street5927, I would be wary of the Vapor Clean Products folks. I found them severely lacking in post sales customer support.

I couldn't find the "Beware Shiller" smilie. :D

LOL, I luv it !

Thanks for the heads up guys, I had a similar post at benzworld.org. Good to know these are scam artists, probably selling stainless steel colored plastic steamers.

Maybe the best thing to do is make Daimer aware that we are keen to their shill activities -and that it will hurt their sales is this BS continues.

What a bunch of bull shill?!

This shiller has posted at dozens of sites over the past day or two. I can't believe they are so naive as to not believe it wouldn't be noticed

Let's keep it real. You can be hired by Company XYZ to act as a shill.

What's funny is I want a good steam cleaner, I would have found them the same way I found all their competitors, via google. But because of this, I have little respect for them and wouldn't do business even though their steamer looks OK, no worries, lots of them for $800 look OK too, haha.

Check out these I found and give me your opinion, was thinking of the VS2000 since I'm looking mostly for use at my properties (home and rentals), but occasionally do cars, I'm not a pro detailer, just pretend once a year with my 7 cars (and Buell of course). My thinking is for $600, it does what the $800 ones do, albeit not in stainless less water capacity although 2 1/2 hour of steam seems like more than I'll need before I run out of steam. They also have the VS1500 and that looks OK too, just missed a pressure guage and comes with much less stuff, but don't know how much stuff I'll need but it's $415 which is considerably less expensive. Or are there other units that are similarly priced and better? I can't justify paying $1,000 for what a pro detailer would use, but I can see paying $500 for a quality steamer that will last me 20 years.

buellwinkle- Just make sure you get something that's potent enough for what you're gonna do.

My smaller steamer has specs similar to most sub-$1K models and I had to upgrade to the Daimer 1500 because I simply couldn't do the stuff I wanted to with the weaker model. Sorta surprised me how much of a *functinal* difference the seemingly small differences in specs amounted to.

Of course, if you don't *need* the added power, or features like continuous fill, then there's sure no sense in paying a bundle for them! I still use my smaller one for all sorts of stuff, especially around the house where I don't want to be wrestling with that big ol' 1500.

Heh heh, the way I gush on about my Daimer, I probably come across as a bigger shill than [whatever her name really is]. They coulda just kept their nose out of Autopia and let me rave about 'em and not created all the hard feelings that could easily cost them business  Bad business practices are often just unnecessary... and stupid.

I saw a "shark" steamer at taget today... Is this thing anywhere close to representing what a steamer can do? I mean it was only $40. and it showed a pic of some doofus "steaming" his wheels with it. I'd like to try something out before I jump in and plunk down just shy of a grand on something like this.

Jakerooni- I've never used the Shark but I had a few cheapie steamers in the past. They were so-so, OK for some household things but not serious tools IMO. My cheapies always ended up breaking and one of 'em burned me but good when it broke.

Housewives/etc. seem to really like the little SteamBuggy steamers though, and my experience with the cheapie ones convinced me to get a better steamer (the DeLonghi EuroSteamer that I compared to my Daimer).

But the diff between the cheapies, and the DeLonghi, and the Daimer are kinda like that a 10" Sears buffer, and a Flex, and a rotary.
